As he said, we're talking about what are potentially housecats--people's companions. A lot of owned cats are indoor-outdoor cats and it's pretty sick if he's eating some starving kid's cat, one of the only things that kid may have of value to him in the world.

Yes, begging is more honorable than killing someone's beloved pets. The humility required to allow yourself to beg is a virtue on the other end of the spectrum from the shamelessness required to kill domesticated cats to feed yourself. It's also worth noting that a beggar isn't always necessarily a panhandler.

If some kid is starving and still has a pet cat that he can feed he's not starving. And I doubt Miranda in his hunger crazed mind was out looking for little Timmy's persian.

 

What does that have to do with anything? Fact he, he could have been preying on someone's pets, if their owners were starving or not. I'd respect him more if he had begged.

I had a cat that actually killed enough squirrels to survive off of them if he had to (5 a week at least), so the hypothetical starving kid wouldn't necessarily have to feed the cat, but such details are superfluous since we're really talking about a man eating other people's pets.

Miranda eating pets on the other hand is borderline ok if he really was starving. Eating a cat is honestly not much worse than eating a cow. He still stole them I guess....? Or perhaps they were like owner-less pets on the street.
