I'm not upset by it but I can see why it gets up peoples backs.

I think fighters like Kevin Mitchell who chose to go the pro route earlier than go to the olympics deserve more respect personally.

The world would be a very different place had Calzaghe gone to the Olympics.

    Sugar Ray Who?

I agree with the poster who said anyone thinking there is nothing racial about this is living in a box. The main reasons he gets so much hate is 1. Jealousy and 2. His heritage. The haters justify it by saying he's cocky, he's arrogant etc which deep down they know they're clutching at straws. He's said some dumb **** but that's not the real reason:nono

At 22, the guy is world champion, has a load of money, bitches all over him, bucket loads of talent while the haters have probably done nothing with their own lives:yep The fact that he's a Pakistani Muslim pisses them off even more.

I'm not really a fan of his and don't really care if he beats Salita or not but he's a good guy, seems very approachable and down to earth, doesn't trash talk much and is a pretty exciting fighter. When you're a young millionaire and can get booty on tap, I'd like to see how humble you are.

The guy is human, not a robot, of course he's gonna get hurt when he's booed in his own country. That would bother anyone. Now you expect him to not even speak about that? Thicker skin? C'mon man, th dude's obviously got thick enough skin to become a world champion. What you expect him to say? "nah it doesn't bother me one bit". Everyone would prefer to be loved rather than hated, hell even Floyd speaks about it.

As for moving to LA permanently, like someone said before, sunshine, beaches and chicks in bikinis vs whatever they have in Bolton. It's a no brainer:yep

I wasn't saying you, there was another thread on here last week about it. Who cares FFS? They are just selling a fight.....

Then thats Mitchells choice (if he really had one about getting an Olympic medal, I don't think he did), Khan made his choice and is just playing the game.

At 17 Khan had the choice of trying to get an Olympic medal or of just waiting around for a year doing nothing and turning pro as "just" another ABA champ. What would you have done?

All you need to do is look at the comments of any video with Khan on YouTube. Vile, racist, disgusting comments which would make KKK leaders blush.

Lots of people dislike him because he is a young, successful British/Pakistan Muslim boxer. He's not arrogant at all, on the contrary. Always seems humble and eager in interviews I've watched.

Good luck to the guy. You have to admire how he came back from getting knocked out.

I was going to make the same point. I went on YouTube to re-watch the Prescott fight the next morning and the comments on there were disgraceful. Not a few of them, literally hundreds.

"I'd be a superstar if I was white" is ridiculously arrogant not to mention completely wrong. He sometimes comes across as a great guy but other times like today he comes across as a complete brat. How would he be a superstar if he was white? He hasnt beaten anyone to get that status!!

Basically, he wants to be Manny Pacquiao overnight, sorry Amir but he earned his status, you'll have to do the same.

You can tell how stupid todays comments were by the fact his dad is all over the media now trying to rectify the situation.

It's a sad reflection of society in the UK unfortunately. There's still a horrible undercurrent of racism and xenophobia. The demonization of other religious and ethnic groups and immigrants by rags like The Sun makes it worse as the average moron forms their insular views on the world from reading this pish.

When he said that he was obviously exagerrating to make a point. When he said "superstar" what he probably meant was "I'd get less hate if I was white". This is what I mean. People jump on him for little comments. A guy who answers all his fan mail, signs autographs, picture requests etc can't be that bad a guy.

I think he's guilty of speaking before thinking. He's not the most eloquent of guys. I don't think his comments were arrogant. Probably just borne out of frustration from getting racist pelters all the time.

Thats my feeling too. He also does seem to have that fast way of talking where I'm not sure his brain is always keeping up. I think a lot of the time things come out not as they are intended.
