How can you be a "title" holder, yet not be interested in boxing?

I never understood fighters, like Leuvano, who held titles, and were damn fine boxers, but could care less about the actual sport of boxing. How in the hell do you stay motivated for a sport that requires so much of you, but not care about it?

I mean if you ever see me on tv (Maybe one day...:yep)and I get asked about fighting someone else, you'd never hear me say "who is that?/never heard of him", **** you'll proabably hear me calling out fighters that would make others ask me "uh who's that?".

    Thoughts on this?

There have been a few high-level competitors who have no interest in it other than as their own profession. Jermain Taylor once said he never watches other divisions and didn't know who some top middleweight contenders were.

Then on the opposite end of the spectrum you have guys like Tyson, who eat sleep and breathe the sport...probably just as rare.

The majority are somewhere dead center, I'd say.

for those fighters its all about the money, which can be just as big a motivator for some.

Yea, not a fan of these types of fighters. I don't see how you can be involved in a sport that you don't love. It's not Boxing, but this player in the MLB is the same way. He finds Baseball boring, I don't understand how that can be.

I mean does that make sense to you though? I mean Im boxing obsessed, you name someone, and I could give you a brief summary on what I think of that boxer, and where I think that boxer is heading (my amature side people knowledge lacks though). **** if I turned pro, I would only be that much more into this sport.

Maybe its just me, but I just cant fathom, how you can take part in a sport, that requires SO much from you, yet other than your fights/training, you have no interest.

When I think of a boxer that is going to be successful, I figure first thing is you need to eat, sleep and breathe boxing, Tyson style. That would be one thing I would want the mentalities of my fighters to be if I ever were to become a trainer. Dont just know how to fight (obvisouly thats the most important), but know the people/fighters in your sport, dont just let the trainer worry about the other fighters.

I know Money is what drives all fighters to want to be prize fighters. No one wants to get in gatti-ward style fights, and only make 50g's a year.

Thats not the point im getting at with this thread though.
