How can you cherry pick a top fighter in your division?

Floyd has fought the top rated fighters in the division that he's been in, numerous HOF's and several guys who were in the top p4p rankings when they fought. If fighting the best fighters in the sport in your weightclass is cherry picking, then so be it, more fighter should do it.

The problem with that is imagine if Cotto and Hatton accepted the fights with Mayweather at 140 rather then claiming they weren't ready. Imagine if Mosley accepted the fight with Mayweather as soon as he moved up to WW rather then claiming his teeth hurt. Imagine if Arum accepted the contract or if Margo accepted the Judah date that was offered after Judah lost.

All these fighters had opportunities to fight Mayweather before he decided to retire. Y are they allowed have excuses to not fight Mayweather when challenged?
