Precisely. No catch weight, moving up. Against a fighter aged 34, coming off a win and also two years younger than May is now.

So using the vetting standards Floyd Mayweather Jr. set...38 out of his 43 fights were 'tune ups'. Glad we can agree on something.:good

The fact of the matter is, Mayweather had shown a strong willingness to fight both Oscar and Shane for years. Now let's use some common sense here, who would be more likely to want the fight? Oscar and Shane were big names who could fight anyone they wanted. Floyd was a supremely talented fighter who wasn't a box office draw and who fought in a smaller weight class. Why would either one of them take on such a high risk/low reward fight? Mayweather, on the other hand, had nothing to lose. He was at his peak, and he was trying to build his name. Losing to Oscar or Shane wouldn't hurt him. Beating them would catapult him dramatically.

They both chose to fight him later on, because he became a big time draw who would be favored to beat them. Both Oscar and Shane had nothing to lose by the time they faced Mayweather and they both got their highest paydays against Mayweather. I have no idea how anyone could blame Mayweather for those fights not coming off when Oscar and Shane were in their prime.

    :patsch keep reaching...

it's only considered a "tune up" cuz floyd is so skilled..

put Guerrero against any other top welterweight in the world and boxing fans will nut in their pants call it a "great fight".

but it's nice that u set such high standards for Floyd. he is the greatest of this era, afterall. ;)

it aint easy @ the top.

These haters think that Mayweather woke up one morning and was blessed with a great boxing talent.

NOPE. He worked hard in the gym day and night to perfect his craft.

Maybe those so-called fighters in his division should get off their asses and train to be better so that they can beat him.

Otherwise at the end of day, Mayweather can fight whatever #2 -3 fighter in his division he wants because he worked hard to be better than them. And again so what if he beats them easy, it's their fault and not his.

Not a reach at all. He set the rules of who is and who isn't worthy. Don't blame me, blame the pattern, blame Floyd's modus operandi. So every single time he fights someone outside of those standards it raises questions. This isn't rocket science.

The interesting thing about this is if you look at history only about 10 fighters managed to win a MAJOR title in five divisions a short list that Mayweather is on, if you dive even further only 3 fighters managed to win a Major title in six division in the case of De La Hoya and Hearns those were guys who were big in there division to begin with and De La Hoya didn't really beat Strum. And in the case of Pacquiao he's basically been fighting guy's coming off losses for the better part of 10 years.
People **** on opponent choices such as Gatti, he may not be an ATG but the ass whipping put on Gatti was enough to make fighters like Hatton and Cotto **** themselves. As long as your fighting top guys that are winning in and around your weight class what's the argument for.

If I study day and night to pass an exam. And pass it with ease. I earned the right because I worked hard for it.
