how can you give that to cleverly?

The commentators were giving more credit to Bellew than Cleverly. Close fight, 117-112 is nonsense though.

 

Cleverly won by 1 IMO, landed cleaner shots, had nice defense. Although judges cards were too wide, the right guy won, imo.

 

Cleverly won it, but just barely. I warned everyone not to jump on the Clevagon too soon, he barely escaped Mohammedi and the Kuziemski ending was highly controversial, but this is not a fight he deserved to lose.

Cleverly is lean and can work some odd angles, but any of the top LHWs will figure him out and that's where he loses his 0. B- level Bellew was not to guy, but what an effort, got my respect for it.

Thats what the judges said when Kotelnik and Matthyse got robbed against Alexander.

Too much of Bellew's activity was uneffective and tired. It was a close fight and Cleverly nicked it.

 

Eh. I missed a few early rounds, but even if Bellew swept them, I had Clev winning close. Clev generally was landing the cleaner punches overall. A few rounds Bellew took by landing a couple of big shots, but Clev's inside work was just so much cleaner and he was actually landing punches while Bellew was mostly hitting gloves and shoulders. The 117-112 card was definitely too wide though.

Cleverly won that on gameplan. He had Bellew very tired by the end due to the pressure and body punching. Even in the rounds that Bellew won, Cleverly was inducing him to throw too much and tire himself out. Very impressed with Cleverly's defense.

Cleverly also countered beautifully. Didn't throw as many combinations as I would have liked but I think he had a lot of respect for Bellew's power.

Also very impressed with Bellew's right hand downstairs. Bellew just left himself too open at times and Cleverly took advantage and chipped away with short punches.

All that fight needed was a couple knockdowns and it'd easily be FOTY.

 

Had it 114-114 and it could of gone either way really. The 117-112 card was a joke.

 

Had it 7-5 to Cleverly. Bellew gave him lots of trouble, but he didn't do enough to claim an unfair decision of any sort.

Cleverly isn't very good.
