Wilder is the most ganster fighter in this whole game, but he really can't box for ****. I mean, what the hell is that bow and arrow jab thing? I mean, don't get me wrong, his footwork is good, but he needs to work on his defense and his fundamentals and just about everything. But he is a KILLER. You see, these guys don't get enough respect. Even GGG is getting criticized when these dudes are the most ganster fighters in the game today. They go out there ready to DESTROY their opposition. You only come out to DMX, "What's my name" if you know you got power. You can't come out to that if you punch featherfisted. These guys got REAL DEAL POWER. I mean, look at the Wilder fight. Washington could box. I was like, damn Washington doesn't have the sharpest punches, but he can box really good and he was looking like he was going to stop Wilder. I mean, that's where the fight was headed. Then all of a sudden, I forget which round, but Wilder lands a good punch finally, and all of sudden Washington was lookin scared as HELL. His eyes were big as hell and his left hand was swinging fast as a mother ****er, real scared like. And Washington COULD BOX. HE was GOOD. And Wilder just turned the fight around with one damn punch. I'll tell you this much, if Klitschko and Joshua can't knock Wilder out real fast, Wilder would KTFO both of them.
Wilder got that ALIEN punchin power. Some of ya'll never seen it, but trust me, it exists. It's out there. That's what people don't understand. Few people had it. Ray Robinson had it. Jack Dempsey had it. You can't really put a figure on who has it. You only know about it when it hits you. These dudes can turn it on and turn you off with one shot at the right time.
You know I guess your right.. his boxing style is like the gangsta's in the movie holding a pistol on it's side or upside down. Looks 'gangsta' but actually limited. Sooner or later an opponent is going to fake out those windmill's by feigning hurt and knock him out through his non-existent defence.
I agree that he needs to work on his boxing, but MAN can he punch and he's so athletic, that's he's hard to hit clean. He's also mean, which contributes to him having some serious heart. He does need a new trainer though.
I've always said I admire the man for his tenacity cause he sure as hell cant box, that said the HW division has always been one of levels and the difference between the top ten and outside is startling, just an unknown really until he steps up.
Im a fan, cant help it. Not blind to his flaws, not blind to his resume and not blind to the delicate way his promoters are handling his career. Im not a fan of his crew though. But i really enjoy his fights. What more can i ask for? Apart from better opposition ofcourse.
Stiverne beat a genuine top ten guy, and Wilder was the underdog against Stiverne. Wilder outclassed Stiverne and that is never going to change. Wilder's opponents for the last two years have been very poor though.
He needs a test but is great value for money. It's not his fault the Povetkin fight didn't happen. If he had beaten him he would be the division's no.1 no problem. Would be a shoot out between him and AJ and I would have my money on Wilder.
