Some folks don't like fighters who mockingly disrespect their opponents in the ring in the way that he did with Areola. Others, who probably share that same kind of attitude, enjoy it and find him entertaining and even admire him for it. It all depends on who is giving an opinion. As for skill, maybe his primary skill is getting in the right position to deliver one game-changing sledge-hammer shot. A prime Ali would have either evaded or survived it and easily outpointed him. A prime Tyson would have quickly gotten inside and flattened him before he could deliver it. After all, if Washington could easily befuddle him with a simple straightforward jab then it's reasonable to reach that conclusion.
I hate fighters from a certain demographic so F wilder. It's his fault Povetkin is a drug cheat, that Fury is a crackhead, that Wlad has been inactive, and that Joshua/Parker ducked him. Oh bu bu bu he could have fought Pulev, or Whyte. Yeah like that would stop the criticism, give me a break.
Only one problem with this post and that is Washington is a horrible fighter. Didn't think it was possible but Wilder's challengers are getting worse. What a brilliant strategy, keep your left hand at your waistline.
1. He's not very good. 2. His level of opposition is not strong enough. 3. He is too brash. That is only acceptable if you back it up by fighting and beating the best fighters out there.
Not a surprise he called out Parker after. Call out the least experienced, least talented, least explosive, least powerful and least recognised belt holder out there. Its kinda embarrassing that he holds a WBC HW belt and can only sell 12,000 tickets in his home state. His finish was again wild and amateur. Has there been 5 more pathetic defences of the WBC belt? I just cannot wait for him to get in with AJ or Fury or Haye or Klitschko. If he doesn't retire before.
Wilder has power. Nobody can deny that. But his actual boxing is average at best. And his opponents are in the main bums and losers and when he beats them he acts like he just whooped both Klitschkos and Ali one after the other. Washington was solid but nothing special and DW struggled ... yet again. Sooner or later he's going to meet somebody with a chin who knows which end of a jab to aim at him and he's going to get busted up.
He did hurt him badly in the second round! after that Wilder fought with a broken right hand and still won every round! 38-0 deal with it ...
He's a fraud, that's why. His entire career is BOGUS. His record is filled with carefully selected opponents - complete tomato cans for the first 5-6 years of his career, and then washed up mediocrities and fringe journeymen after that. Buy into this con-game all you want. Me, I prefer reality to fakery, and cannot wait until Wilder's glass jaw is shattered when he is forced to fight somebody decent, like Joshua.
40 fights and still no credible opponent and no fatso Stiverne was not credible and not top 10. Wilder-Scott was a joke of an eliminator too. I don't like him fooling fans and pretending to be something he is not.
I totally disagree. I think Washington was a highly skilled fighter. Washington could shorten up his punches a bit, and he did need more experience, but he was good. He would have been a good win for ANYONE's resume.
