How can you not like WILDER!!!!

At this point I don't care if Wilder ever faces a legit contender or not. I just accepted him as some sort of joke and his fights against "lower level opposition" (to put it mildly) are actually fun since they're always competitive and he always struggles. Let him have that paper belt and fight the who's who of heavyweights ranked #20-#50. It's not like he has a fanbase or mainstream media behind him that hypes him and buys his BS. He's basically an unknown in the USA, he walked down the street in NY in one of the videos and nobody recognized him.

 

I like the guy, I don't know why he's so polarizing in this forum. He has a seemingly good personality and has a very entertaining style.

I was very shocked at how poorly he looked in the first 4 rounds of his fight with Washington. His skills have always been average at best and that probably has more to do with him taking up boxing at such a late age, but he just looked so crude out their and his fundamentals were very poor all around. Hopefully it's due to the long layoff and coming off of surgery rather than some devolving pattern occurring to his overall skillset.

If that was just solely from ring rust, than he should go ahead and try to unify the division immediately. WhIle his overall skills might be average, his power is right up with there with the best punchers in the sport P4P. He's one of those rare fighters who only needs to land one of his shots cleanly to change the dynamic of the fight. He can knock out any fighter in the sport with that right hand.

 

hes polarizing on this forum because most of the posters here are insecure rejects with double standards.....

wilder is flawed...his resume is not good....but like you said...he has a good personality and usually provides an entertaining fight....wilder to me has that rare ability to charm and also be almost villainous in the same 2 minute interview

this guy goes over to russia for a fight everyone says will prove something...the other guy flakes out and wilder ends up having to be defended ad nauseum on ESB for it....thats all you need to know....but these are the same cornballs that defend ggg till the death and his duck of ward.....the same guys that say "business is stupid" until they have to tell us why 15 mil aint good enough of an offer and why golovkin ducked ward.....ESB still has alot of quality posters...its just hard to sift through the BS...

wilder still has time ahead of him to right the ship....you hear the same garbage from golovkin fans "well he doesnt have alot of wear and tear and there is still time for him to build a legacy and do big fights"....well there is still time for wilder too......u know showtime is tryna build him vs joshua

Every so often I click show ignored posts and instantly regret it. Shockmaster is now claiming has a 'good personality' this is a man who punched a mentally ill troll - which would seem a lot better if he didn't show a complete lack of interest when some muscle mary started on him another time - got arrested for domestic violence after strangling a woman and recently set upon the amiable seeming Brezeale and his family with 20 odd goons.

That and he won't fight anyone worth a damn. Seriously F this forum some times.

 

i said he has a personality/persona which appeals...to viewers....floyd punched a woman/gets into dust ups....but he had enough charisma to get people to buy his fights even though most ended up being boring.....and wilders fights usually end with someone on the canvas

i said wilder has the charisma to get attention and casuals....i didnt say he was a saint....FFS....that makes me want to say F this forum....you cant clearly differentiate? i didnt say he was some damn role model all children should look up to

i have a friend that could be generously described as a casual boxing fan....he knows who wilder is

True. Wilder just isn't champion material, and the only way to enjoy him is to simply accept this. His fights against Szpilka and Duhaupas are actually quite entertaining when seen through this lens, and his power and willingness to go for broke always gives his fights a razor wire quality.

But he ain't a top fighter, and I doubt he ever will be.

 

Sorry I don't like guys with awful windmilling technique, idiotic amateur footwork *AND* a big mouth! I can live with either
* great skill and big mouth (Floyd)
* mediocre technique or downright bad fighter but humble personality (David Price, Monte Barrett)

But Wilder has become disgustingly arrogant while still fighting like a drunken sailor bar brawler. He's a KO waiting to happen.

 

He's a better boxer than Sam Peter. You make it sound like all he does is enter the ring and fail his arms around. Yeah he does spaz out when trying to finish a guy and i wish he wouldn't. He has the ability to deliver better combos , he just can't compose himself.

His footwork is nowhere near 'amateur' or 'idiotic' . He out boxed Stiverne off the back foot for 12 rounds and his movement was fluid and coordinated. He jabbed and moved around the ring fairly well which is something Wlad is unable to do.

Wlad can't box backing up at all. He would have been bent down all over Stiverne's back peice all night long. Wilder never had to clinch once.
