Exactly how was Floyd different at 36 than say at 30? Speed, reflexes, timing everything he had against Oscar he had against Canelo.

Trout beat Cotto, he was elite at 154 a green guy with over 40 fights wouldn't beat him. Canelo wasn't green it's a ridiculous argument, he was a the champ at 154 FFS. He wasn't a prospect or a contender, stop with this myth.

It's not a myth. He was rushed since Floyd was retiring soon. They threw him in there quickly for the payday. And of course Floyd was more than happy to have it. He saw an easy win. And got it.

Canelo wanted the fight he called for it. Had PBF not fought him you'd just say he ducked him. PBF can't win with people like you.

Yeah, so? Floyd was called out by a lot of guys. Paul Williams called him out remember. Did he get a fight automatically?

You've agreed with plenty of my posts on Floyd, so don't go back to this silly game. I give Floyd props when it's deserved. But I have said from the beginning, was too soon for canelo. Trout is NOT floyd ****ing mayweather level. Not even close. But GBP saw the opportunity for a lot of money. Can't blame them.

He was the champ at 154 like you've said before when discussing fighters when you start fighting for belts it's time to take the training wheels off. PBF was 36 he wasn't getting any younger. Should he have waited until he was 38 to fight him?

Canelo wasn't the finished product in 2013, but even at that point he was obviously world class and on the cusp of being elite. Even with a minor asterisk, it's a pretty great win.

Floyd was just a great fighter. Love him or hate him, he's one of the greatest fighters of all time. But I think that we've got to look here into how a fighter's mindset plays a huge part in how they approach and perform in a fight.

I think many people understimate just how important the psychological side of the sport is.

    It's absolutely huge.

Certain circumstances can have a dramatic effect on a fighters confidence and what tactics they'll employ because of them.

Even though Floyd was a true ATG, we both know the controversies he's been in over the years. We know that he had to have a C-W for Canelo. We know that he deliberately came in over weight against JMM. We know all about the saga with Manny. We know how he retired when the WW was hot. We know that he wouldn't rematch Oscar for huge money. And we can't ignore any of that. As great as he was, his mental strength never matched his unbelievable fighting prowess. So taking that into account, the point I'm making, is that IMHO, I think it's both an exaggeration and completely unrealistic to claim that Floyd would have whooped any version of Canelo. I think it's ignorant to think that. We have to look at the evidence at hand.

When Floyd fought Canelo, he had a young guy in front of him who showed him far too much respect. If you've not seen the fight for a while, go and look back at it. I watched it again recently. Canelo stood back and waited and waited. He would not press Floyd and he seemed terrified of getting countered by Floyd's speed. Now although Canelo will never be at the level that Floyd was at technically, I promise you that Canelo would never stand off of Floyd in the same way if they fought today with Canelo being 29 years of age. He wouldn't give him the same amount of respect. He wouldn't give him as much space and as much time. Not only has Canelo improved as a fighter both technically and physically, he's now also more experienced and confident than what he was back then. He is now one of the best fighters in the world, and in the prime of his life with a huge ego.

Now if you also take into account Floyd's actions over the years, we can't be certain if Floyd would even have fought today's version of Canelo, let alone have whooped him. Because there's no way that Floyd would be as confident fighting Canelo at 29, than what he was when he faced him back in 2013 which was over 6 years ago. And if a fighter's mentality is different, they act differently. And if they act differently, then their performance and the fight will play out differently.

Are you really suggesting that gvozdyk is a better win than every one of mayweathers? What exactly are you basing this on? It cannot possibly be gvozdyks resume. Where are all of the big wins ee fighters have over the great Americans and Mexicans of the past? I can't think of a single one

    The C-W was completely unecessary.

No, Canelo didn't ask for it:

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...-welterweight-152-pounds-catchweight/2802237/

Floyd would not school this current version of Canelo.

If you think that Floyd would have fought Kovalev, you've been taking LSD.

Why don't you think about what you've written.

He'd have fought Kovalev and he'd school any version of Canelo, even the current one, yet he demanded a C-W to fight him over 6 years ago?

    Get real.

Yes, Floyd was great. There's no doubt about that. And yes, he had the ability to beat any version of Canelo. But the chances are, he wouldn't have fought this current version of Canelo, let alone have schooled him.
