Lot of people are saying that the winner of the Cotto-Canelo will have to fight GGG but I'm having my doubts.

    What's everyone's opinion?

I get the feeling if Cotto wins, he'll duck GGG but if Canelo wins, he seems more likely to fight GGG.

    Another question....
Supposing if Cotto wins and ducks, then what happens next for GGG?

He takes the belt because Cotto forfeited?

Both have said if they win they have no problem facing GGG, although if Mayweather calls he'll get the winner 1st.

You can cry mandatory all you want but a historically significant fight will take precedent over GGG's position. Which both Canelo-Cotto or Mayweather vs the winner would be.

Do you really think Mayweather will steal GGG's opponent like that?

I get the feeling that Mayweather wants in all the action since the Cotto-Canelo fight is getting hyped up .

I not a really big fan of either fighter, but I want Canelo to win because I also believe he will fight GGG no problem. If Cotto wins he will probably fight another Geale type of opponent. I just can see Cotto taking on GGG because he is such a diva these days.

    Yah.

Canelo will win, and if Mayweather calls...it'll be for the MW title. However, if Canelo refuses to fight GGG next, he'll be stripped and therefore Mayweather won't even want to call. And even if by some chance Canelo wasn't stripped, that'd make Golovkin Floyd's mandatory if Floyd beat Canelo again, lmao.

Golovkin is getting the lineal MW title the easy way (Canelo fights) or the much easier way (Canelo stripped). Either way, he's getting it.

I swear people are damn dumb as cake. Everyone so sure Canelo will fight three G when he's tried his hardest to duck even fighting for the lineal middle while Cotto is the one who has done everything to keep it. Wake up idiots.

It's not really stealing I mean the biggest fight in boxing is Mayweather vs a perceived tough opponent. Him vs the winner would be hyped to hell as the best matchup to be made. A rematch h with either does huge #'s especially if it's a great fight. Between Canelo,Cotto,& GGG I think Alvarez will prove to be the best anyway.

I agree with the OP. I think Canelo likely would, but I seriously doubt Cotto would. Canelo took fights with guys that people were saying he was going to duck, and not only did he take the fight, he made it almost immediately when the fans demanded it.

Look at Cotto's entire career though. This fight will mark the second time in three fights where he was the underdog. He was also a big underdog against Mayweather and Pacquiao, fought Margo twice, Clottey, Mosley, and Austin Trout when he didn't need to.

WTF are you talking about? Did you forget that Martinez was calling Cotto out before the Chavez fight? Cotto wanted NONE OF IT, and suddenly, once Martinez is shot he is more than happy to fight him. Cotto gets a rep for "fighting anyone" when the reality is, the ONLY fighter on his resume that was truly a fight that can be considered an opponent that was being ducked is Margarito 1. That's it.
Yes he fought Pac and May (lost both by a landslide) but who DOESN'T want to fight them? No one is ducking either of those guys. He's fighting Canelo next and I can name at LEAST 5 or 6 guys chomping at the bit to fight him too. His best win... by far is a 36 year old Mosley who arguably beat him. Cotto is good, but he's a diva and he's overrated.

Cotto is a good fighter, no doubt...but he is overrated. 4 of the 6 guys you named beat him convincingly...1 other arguably did too. Clottey, meh, good win but not great.

Manny and Floyd are ATGs. Margo's whole career around that time period was questionable. The Trout loss was a surprise, that happens sometimes. You can try to downplay Cotto's résumé if you want, but what does that say about his contemporaries? There aren't many fighters out there with a better résumé than Cotto. Cotto didn't come up the easy way, he wasn't hyped up by steamrolling set ups. This guy has done pretty much everything the fans want and it's still not good enough. Meanwhile, you have other guys getting showered with praise for beating up on overmatched, B and C level fighters.
