In terms of entertainment, blood and guts, I can't think of anyone that brought more to the modern day sport. He was every bit the guaranteed value of a Gatti or Ward and was "Must see TV" for almost the entire duration of his long career. If only so many fans didn't have a built in avoidance of the very lowest weight classes from the get go...

In terms of significance over multiple weight classes, titles and noteworthy wins (This is separate from his worth in terms of entertainment) where do you rank him? Looking for opinions from educated fans who were there, ideally. Have at it.

In my opinion, one of the very best body punchers of the past 20 something years. Fantastic left hook to the body. Perfect.

Russell, I always liked Arce and thought he was outstanding, but one little incident always sticks in my craw. He was still a bantamweight titlist I believe when he fought Jesus Rojas about 6 years ago at the age of 33. Now, of course he was past his best, but I recall watching this fight. In the first round Arce decked Rojas, but Rojas got up and began administering one bad body beating on Arce. By the end of the first round I was saying to myself, "This Rojas kid is going to stop him" That's how impressed I was. In the second round - and we can all look at this through youtube - it just looked like Arce found a reason to quit claiming Rojas did this and that. Originally I believe they gave the fight to arce, but fortunately, cooler heads prevailed and they scored it a no contest I believe. Anyways, it was enough to really **** me off with him. My hero had feet of clay.
