How close do you think Patterson was to his best in '65 against Ali?

    There is mentioned back problem - but how much of an excuse is it? Do you think he looked genuinely worse or was it Ali that made him look bad, just like Liston did, even if in a different way? It's interesting that Norton often is mentioned as Ali's 4th best win, but what about Patterson?

    I watched the fight back in the 60's....I think Floyd was really suffering.

    I remember between rounds Floyd's trainer would try to lift Floyd to stretch his back.

    Far from it.

    Patterson looked much better in the rematch and he was 37 years old.

    i dunno watching him fight patterson was like watching patterson try to walk under water
