people explain this please, because it seems this board is a bit biased....

how come all professional betting oddsmakers seem to list mayweather as a slight (-150) favourite against pacquiao (+120)?

and btw im a fan of both fighters, however, i do see mayweather as a bit more skilled and advantageous going into this fight

Manny has a "much bigger" fanbase and that is reflected in the opinions you read.

Yeah Manny is more liked than Floyd and some people are going for him because of emotion, but professional gamblers don't screw around and they pick on who they think will actually win and like stated before. Floyd's style helps him beat Manny

It is a paper match-up, which means **** until they face each other on the ring.

It is like Miami Heat will be favored against anybody in the NBA to win the championship.

Beside Pac style seems not good in fantasy match-ups but I have been proven countless of times.

It is very subjective and people are still basing those on the 130's Mayweather, when obviously he slowed a lot.

    floyd will be the favourite.

In my opinion its like duran hearns. Hearns beat duran, yet duran is rated higher in the ATG.

I think floyd beats manny, but manny should rate higher in ATG

this is the type of answer i was looking for

these guys make millions on their odds... they live off their business of making odds... if they list someone as their favourite to win a fight, they arent doin it to lose money thats for DAMN sure

please, all overzealous pacquiao fans on this board. read this topic. do your research. check the odds.

So what? Fight ain't happening. URGE just rode the space shuttle and is currently orbiting the earth.

If the fight happens by miracle, I will bet on Pac and since the odds favor Gayweather, time to make moolah!

The key word there is "slight" betting favorite.. (when has a Mayweather opponent been given as much of a chance against him?)

Mayweather is merely the safer option

He is seen as the better boxer (don't confuse that with greater fighter), has advantages in size and reach, better defence, and shown great adaptabilty in the ring

Smart money should be on Mayweather

The thing with Pac though is he's made a habit of proving people wrong

A couple years ago if you mentioned this fight everyone would've picked Mayweather easy

Pac has managed to close the gap so much that he is now actually given a chance, even by the bookies

It's not being billed as one of the biggest fights in history for nothing

Because oddsmakers are following common boxing logic, which states that stylistically Floyd should beat Pac.

That's where the dillema arises. Oddsmakers have not learned their lessons well.

When it comes to Manny Pacquiao, common boxing logic DOES NOT APPLY!

(Floyd knows this therefore the indefinite "vacation")
