How come Andre Ward never fought Kovalev straight away at 175?

oh there are plenty of people who would prefer ward to pull out rather than him actually win this fight

 

I personally can't wait.

I give Ward some credit but in fairness he really has nowhere else to go, HBO were never going to allow him to continue to have "tune ups.

Ward is in his 30's and needs to make some money so it's either face Kovalev or keep picking up very modest purses fighting in front of a max of maybe 2000 boxing fans.

We will now see just how good Ward really is.

golovkin doesn't have anything to do with this fight...of course other than him getting a glimpse of actual real warriors and fighters.....but the scenario you pained for ward could be applied to any fighter...so I chose to apply it to the one they call lil g

so now why don't u answer? whens lil g gonna take a big fight the fans want to see over settling for mediocre purses against bum mandatories while selling 30 dollar tickets?

 

I'm worried for Ward, I also still believe he'll get "injured" again. I won't believe it's happening until Ward is walking to the ring.

Ward has nothing to prove. The fact he is signed up to fight the "Big bad wolf" is all you need to know.

Ward has everything to prove, he hasn't really done anything worth talking about since Froch 5 years ago.

5 years without a genuine challenge and all that time we have had Ward and his supporters trying to say he is a top 5 P4P fighter.

Ward gets blown away here and it does not look very good.

 

I'm not even a Ward fan like that but when the whole thing with GGG happened last year the agreement Ward was trying to make would have had GGG-Lemiux as scheduled and Ward vs a tuneup late last year, followed by Ward-GGG this spring in place of Wade&Barerra fights and ending with Ward-Kovalev as currently set for Nov.

 

The only people that cannot clearly see that Ward needed tune up fights are blind and dksab. If Ward beats Kovalev then he will for sure go down in history as a p4p great.

 

this is true and what i say all the time.....but the lil superfans dont wanna hear it "he said he needed all these tuneups man what was lil g gonna do wait till 2018"......wah wah....it was pretty simple really to follow.....they kept saying "u want him to pull out of the lemieux fight and not get that ibf title and not have a ppv"...not at all...he could have done all that and still got the fight with ward made......thats why hell always be known as a chicken and a duck to me

 

How many posts a day do you devote to "lil g"? After you come up with that number, please ask yourself if it is healthy.

 

I like to **** on Ward a bit, and don't often agree with you, but I have no doubt this is true. I'd go further actually, many would rather he pull out than take the fight at all, win or lose.
Same people who were dying to see Wilder to chuck his belt.
