Calzaghe would have scored a wide UD. Pavlik has a good chin and would stay it out but would lose.

    Read below

Calzaghe aims to bring the curtain down on his glittering career by stretching his unbeaten run to 46 fights when he takes on Roy Jones Jr in New York in November.

And the Welshman, 36, has rubbished claims that he only signed to face Jones because he is afraid of losing to middleweight king Pavlik.

He blasted: "Pavlik is just trying to make a name for himself on my back.

"He fought and beat Jermain Taylor instead and immediately had a rematch with him to dodge me again.

"It's easy to come out of the woodwork and mouth off when you've already signed to fight somebody else."

Pavlik extended his own unbeaten run to 36 fights by demolishing Calzaghe's former stablemate Gary Lockett in June.

    NO GO ... Kelly Pavlik
Rumours of a Calzaghe-Pavlik showdown quickly followed but Calzaghe insists the American has NEVER been serious about fighting him.

The light-heavyweight added: "He didn't even call me out after he beat Gary.

"And with no disrespect to Gary, he's a totally different kettle of fish to me.

"When Pavlik beat Gary, he actually didn't say anything about me at all afterwards.

"It's funny that he's started to get a bit brave now that I've signed to fight Jones — but you get used to that bulls*** in boxing."

In hindsight its crazy to think how many jumped on Joes back over the Pavlik thing. Kelly was a good fighter. Joe was a great fighter. He'd have Lacy'd him

He retired due to injury and being contempt with what he had achieved, it was plain to see in Joe's final two fights how bad the hand had become. The fight with Froch had the potential to be huge but potential was all there was, Froch only had the victory over Pascal at the time and had not had a chance to build the resume he holds today, what weight would the fight even take place at? Joe could not make 168lbs anymore and i doubt Froch would have moved up in weight to make the fight happen. As for the Bhop rematch i think your'e the only person who wanted to see that, the first fight was a boring, fouling, scrappy slapfest, an awful spectacle mainly caused by Hopkins unwillingness to stand and box rather than foul and playact. Awful fight which Calzaghe won clearly and fairly.

There were discussions at some point but neither party wanted it that much.

Calzaghe states in his book he was scared of lacy, and pulled out on several occasions. I'd imagine he wasnt to fond of fighting pavkik who at that time was a big middleweight. Good stamina and power and great beard.

Joe been knocked down hard by lesser punchers and lesser fighters that let him off the hook because they didn't have enough dog in them.

If the fight had of came to fruition I'd have picked joe but he'd have been made to work like a SOB.

Questioned me? There was no question in that trolls statement. I don't say one word to the troll, yet it addresses me with nothing but the regular troll language of "butt-hurt".

It doesn't surprise me that you stand by that troll Relentless, since you think idiots like timeout are "respected posters". You're a sham, go suck some more of Calzaghe's cocaine laced dick and stop stalking my life.

That, good sir, is blatantly FALSE. Pavlik in the ring in his HBO interview asked the crowd if they'd like to see him fight Joe next. The crowds response indicated yes too.

The last sentence is bull too. Joe had already said in his own book he'd never fight Jones, and after calling Kelly out left and right, fighting Jones is exactly what he did.

    :deal Thankyou Beouche.
You see thwank888, Beouche is a truly great poster who can debate any given boxing subject.
You here have been told to accept your place at the bottom of the ladder, looking up to me right at the top. Stop trying to make a name for yourself by using my name to climb places. Do it by your own accord, people will respect you more for it.
Obsessed with you?? You must be some weirdo twat to think that. You accused Timeout for stalking you recently, and now you think im obsessed with you :nut. Life sounds a bit lonely for you :hi:
We will never know. But I doubt anyone is lying. I do seem to recall reading that Pavlik was offered after the Lacy fight. That was before Kelly won a MW title I think. Pavlik was floating around SMW as much as MW and Calzaghe wanted to get an American name to get the Hopkins fight
