He still moved not just one div but two.
I could have also said toney Eubank, RJJ, Benn Collins, Joppy, Reggie Johnson, Mike McCallum, Nunn, McClellan, collins, etc. the majority of the best middleweights over the past 20 years have moved up to 168 or 175. This was just one division I picked at random. I've no doubt its the same for most.
Except light heavy probably I dont think many of the best LHWs move upto cruiser, and are less likely to move to heavy now that heavies are bigger, there will of course be exceptions.

Its funny I kinda thinking the same thing  for a second, for some reason Junior Heavyweight Division has a nice ring to it.

Of all the divisions to get rid of cruiser should be the last to go, 175 to the size of the recent best heavyweights at 240ish is far too big a gap.

Most people think most of the best boxers of all time (not p4p, but the actual best) are all about cruiserweight marciano, ali, frazer, louis dempsey etc.
Its a fantastic division with some great talent, if it was lost then some of these great boxers talent would be wasted as they would be expected to take on far bigger oponents to achieve success.

Cruiserweight just isn't marketable. I was thinking something like

    160 Junior Middleweight
    168 Middleweight
    175 Super Middleweight
    200 Light Heavyweight

I think it makes more sense.

but junior as a prefix is usually used interchangeably with light, and as there is already a light heavy, could cause confusion.
its tough to have a name for a division when usually "light" or "super" is added to an existing division to make a name. unless you go for, super light heavyweight, or middle heavyweight.
If you dont like cruiser just think of it as 200lb division

Lack of dollars and lack of profile. Heavyweight has always and will always be a much more glamorous division.

the divisions that need to be changed are the ones where a fighter can be fighting for the middleweight title and weigh 160 at the weigh in, then by the next day has skipped the super middles, the light heavyweights and ends up a cruiser

I have to agree with the guys saying not enough money.

How many times has the CW division been on HBO, Showtime, or ESPN for that matter?

The last time I saw one televised in the US was the Cunningham vs Adamek on Versus.

I honestly don't know why the networks don't televise them. The fights at CW have been way better than the fights at Heavyweight.

I dont think boxers necessarily leave cruiserweight and move up more than they do in other divisions, it is perhaps more noticeable when they do leave the division because they are not replaced by lhws moving up so much.

Haye got more money for fighting Audley Harrison than he would have fighting 3 guys at CW.

    Here's an odd thought:

Get rid of ALL the weight divisions, and replace them with "reach" divisions.
