How come Floyd doesnt call or challenge Sergio or Canelo since they both just won?

Why fight dangerous opponents when the majority of your career has been avoiding the most dangerous opponents, why start now?

Floyd would chose the likes of Malignaggi before he fights Sergio and we ALL know this

    Honestly heres why

Floyd Mayweather is 35 years of age and both occasions he has travelled to 154 lbs he has shown be quite limited by the extra weight. Add that in with the fact he's just came out of prison (where he claimed to have lost 15 lbs) It isnt positive if he will fight anyone let alone these two.

Saul Alvarez is being protected by Goldenboy. Despite winning the WBC Junior Middleweight title in March of 2011 and defend the title 5 times has yet to actually face a Junior Middleweight of any note, in fact the only two Junior Middleweights he has fought have been Kermit Cintron and Ryan Rhodes.

Rhodes was a European fighter at best and never beat a single world class fighter failing to win any world title fights or even interim bouts (WBO, WBO Interim, WBF, WBU and WBC) however he was the mandatory challenger and Goldenboy had no problems in taking on Rhodes with Alvarez dominating the action calling a stoppage in the 12th. Rhodes would later go onto lose to European Junior Middleweight champion Sergey Rabachenko via 7th round stoppage and retire.

Kermit Cintron on the other hand (a former IBF welterweight champion) had lost 2 of his last 3 fights to Paul Williams and Carlos Molina and despite Molina going onto fight in a WBC eliminator Cintron was given the shot at Alvarez before hand.

Alvarez's other opponents were of course :

Mathew Hatton (former european welterweight champion. lost to kell brook 1 year later)
Alfonso Gomez (best wins came over shot, bloated fighters at 147)
Shane Mosley (40 Years old and coming of 2 wide losses at 147 and a draw)
Josesito Lopez (Career Junior Welterweight, replacement for Ortiz also a welterweight)

So its safe to say despite Goldenboy claiming to want a fight with Mayweather that they are waiting for him to show age and now he didnt look as fresh at 154 in his bout with Miguel Cotto aswell as the jail sentence he just served its obvious they are waiting for
Mayweather to look old instead of facing Mandatory challengers Erislandy Lara and James Kirkland

Sergio Martinez on the other hand is a completely different story. Martinez is an accomplished middleweight champion himself who has been on the wrong end of boxing politics bad decisions for years.

Being robbed of a knockout win over Kermit Cintron for the WBC interim 154 title and then when the fight went the distance was even robbed of a win as the fight went to a draw. Next was his FOTY candidate with Paul Williams in which he scored a clear knockdown after climbing from the canvas and although the fight itself could have gone either way one judge had it a virtual shutout for Williams. So Martinez was picked for Kelly Pavlik not being seen as much of a threat (Pavlik being a Middleweight) however the tables were turned when Martinez dominated that fight despite fans claiming Martinez was put down by Pavlik the shot was more due to balance than anything else. The WBO and WBC decided to strip Martinez for not fighting mandatory challengers Dmitry Pirog and Sebastian Zbik due to HBO not wanting those fights but chose to air them fighting for the vacant titles against Chavez jr and Danny Jacobs.

Since then Martinez has gone onto grow well into the middleweight frame, despite being smaller in stature went onto score 4 consecutive knockouts over Paul Williams in a return, Serhiy Dzinzuruk (Undefeated Light middleweight champion), Darren Barker (European Middleweight champion) and Mathew Macklin (Should have been WBA Middleweight champion going into the fight) and as of last weekend beat WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez via a near shutout to reclaim his belt.

Despite Martinez claiming to make 154 easily, Floyd Mayweather who started his career at Super Featherweight, has struggled both times in his bouts with Oscar De La Hoya and Miguel Cotto. Despite winning both bouts clearly Mayweather was often caught with the jab of both fighters which wasnt much of a problem at the lower weights, stressing that the extra weight is taking its toll on Mayweather along with his age.

Now along with the fact he has just come out of prison serving a sentence and looks to have lost weight and muscle mass (as I mentioned before Mayweather claimed to have lost up to 15 lbs) it doesnt look likely that Mayweather would be able to compete at 154 effectively and although Canelo Alvarez is a toss up fight, Martinez would handle Floyd much to easily due to his size advantage (He himself would likely rehydrate up to 168 on fight night)

So thats why Mayweather hasnt called them out, in fact Mayweather hasnt called anyone out. With a possible Pacquiao matchup looming for next year should Manny be able to beat Juan Manuel Marquez this time without controversy and Timothy Bradley calling out Mayweather theres not much need for Floyd to return to 154 when he had no intention of staying there in the first place.

He's got 2 belts now at 154 (WBC in 2007, WBA in 2012) along with capturing titles from 130-147 also, so I guess what im trying to say is that Canelo Alvarez should actually try fighting a top ranked Junior Middleweight like Erislandy Lara or a fellow 154 champion instead of fighting Welterweights and Junior Welterweights whilst Sergio Martinez should stick to fighting the top dogs at 160 as he has been doing such as Gennady Golovkin, Daniel Geale or even a Cesar Chavez return.

(Sorry for the novel but I feel after all the ******ed cry babies excuses this past weekend I had to spell everything out)

Floyd's career is winding down at this point.

There is no need to take any big risks that might tarnish his past work.

Only a bout with Pacman really has mattered for the past 3+ years.

Since that's unlikely Floyd has nothing else to prove.

Martinez is a true 154 lber, Floyd a true 130-140 lber, Pac a true 126-135 lber...get over it there the best at there respective true sizes.

Ive been awake for far too long so i felt like writing a long paragraph to get me to sleep . . . . but this is the jist of what im saying . . . . that and Canelo Alvarez is an over rated fighter who feeds on smaller fighters like Chavez

I liked the read :good Good post.

Personally, if Mayweather doesnt want to fight anymore at 154 because he doesnt think the weight suits him, fine, I have no problem with that. However, he cant keep having fights at 154, then use the weight as an excuse as to why he wont fight Martinez at 154. So I guess we will see where he comes back at.

Canelo, I totally agree with you. The guy needs to step up to the dudes in his weightclass. A fight with Martinez at 154 though would be an awesome fight, a big fight, one that he could win and would bring huge credit to his name.

Martinez : I think Martinez needs to move down. I know others disagree (mainly people wanting to see him move up yet again and fight ward) but to me its obvious he is undersized at middleweight. His skills and power have prevailed but its only a matter of time before his body cant keep up with keeping these big dudes off of him anymore. Would much much rather see him move down and take over 154 again. Fights with Canelo, Kirkland, Cotto..... all great fights for pretty good money for Sergio. I see no reason to keep fighting these big guys at middleweight who most will wind up at 175 later on in their careers. He doesnt have many fights left and Id like to see him get his defining fight against a name opponent like Cotto or Canelo before hes retired.

    just imo.

Anyways I rambled off.... once again good post :good
