Just cause floyd has one of the best defenses in the game doesnt mean he doesnt ever get hit. hes been hit flush plenty through his career. offense will always always score at high levels, defense is just so you don't get hit too much.

    Nah dude, it happens.

Look, I train at a gym and saw this guy workout on the heavybag throwing combos like crazy. Looked great.

Next week he comes in to spar and looks awful. No combos; no head movement: it was like Tyson and Douglas playing out.

    **** happens in boxing.

But he isn't a big puncher at 147. He beat Cotto and Hoya on accumulation. He knocked out Hatton at 140. He beat Clottey on accumulation. So what are you talking about?

    Check Floyd v Jerry Cooper.

No version of anyone would have touched him that night.

He has 7 fights at 147, he kayoed 2 of them, and was on the verge of stopping 2 of the others.... what are you talking about?

Against Cooper he finished the fight in 1.

    He has lost that ability.

    Because he has hand issues.

Where are those boxing experts who always claim to have boxed before when you need them.

From medical point of view, injuries to the small bones of the hands or metacarpals never really heal very well simply because they are small bones with smaller blood supplies.

Thus, Mayweather never really commits to his punches unless it is really a sure KO like he stunned his opponent already. Punching and hitting a bone or elbow, or shoulder would damage the hand.

How can you compare Cooper to shane mosley, hatton, de la hoya, judah, and marquez?

floyd's main punch is his straight right hand. it comes off very fast and flashy but it has the power of a jab. he throws it without any weight on it and basically it is a jab coming from his right hand.

He wasn't safety first in his boxing career at 130-135... At 130 he was knocking guys all over the place and he was known as a dynamic boxer puncher (sometimes called just a puncher if you can imagine). I think this is what Jazzo is talking about. He wasn't safety first against Shane either. Shane said Mayweather had some pop on his punches, but Shane has a good chin and was holding at times quite a bit.

It probably is hand troubles. He had really bad hand problems at one point.

no he hasn't lost power, he's just to cautious to commit full power punches for fear of being countered. being a good counter puncher he knows this. a win is a win for floyd, no need to take unnecessary risks.

Everyone he fights (including shane) says after the fight he hits harder than they thought, he does not have that dynimite in his hands type power but he hits hard enough to make a person respect his power(not fear it but respect it) enough to second guess when and how they should attack him which plays right into his hands of turning it into a boxing match. imagine if he had Randall Bailey's Right hand with his skill, he would be commiting murders

PBF still has power, but not the murderous power he had at lightweight. He could knock fools out if he was willing to take the risks he would need to take to do it.
