How come Floyd looked awesome in his first few fights, but now hardly ever gets KOES?

Dude, it is a myth that opposition makes you look bad.

Listen to HBO. If a fighter, once great, losses to another great, it is because he was shot.

Tyson was in his Prime when he was 20.

He would have looked exactly the same as he did fighting Spinks if he fought Lewis at that time.

Opposition is a myth: The Tyson who beat Spinks in One beats Lewis in One.

Exactly, it was clear that a different Mayweather turned up against Mosley. Mayweather wanted to get the 12 rounds under his belt against Marquez as it was a tune up, there would have been no good KO'ing him within a few rounds.

HBO knows everything? HBO isn't even a person . I want some of what you're smoking. So if a great loses to another great he's shot? How is that possible? In case you didn't realize... in every boxing match someone has to lose (except for the unlikely scenario of a draw). So if 2 greats fight and 1 loses, he's shot? Dumbest logic ever. There are many other factors that come into play when 2 great boxers go at it other than one of them being "shot".

You know exactly when Tyson was in his prime because you're him and you know how he felt and knew what was going on inside his head exactly at all points in his career. Cool.

He would have looked the same fighting Lewis as Spinks? Where do you get this from? Proof please. Oh yeah that's right you pulled this out of your ass.

Jerry Cooper was 6-4 before Floyd fought him but Cooper's opponents have a combined record of 35-80-5.

The 1st round KO by Floyd was probly expected. :good

Mayweather used to have serious power down in the lower weight classes...but it's only natural that when a boxer moves up in weight, there punchers aren't going to have the same effect on "bigger" opponents. Although I did think he would or could have gotten Mosley out of there in the 7th or 11th round.
The only boxer I have seen recently carry there power up in weight very well is Pacquiao, although a lot of that is to do with speed aswell.

I think his style has evolved since moving up and he has lost the killer instinct. I think at some level a total undressing is far worse than a KO (even though he says otherwise) . . . I sorta agree with that. I think people underestimate his power because he does not KO everyone. Remember he very rarely "lets his hands go". Very few people have one punch KO power and he does not throw enough to accumulate the amount of damage to have it stopped. I think he has a lot of pop because I have never ever seen SSM gun shy . . . even when forest beat him.

    reasons:

    1. hand problems
    2. very careful with his fights. won't risk getting out of his game plan by going for a KO, he opts for a UD.
    3. some of his previous opponents have above average to very strong chin.
