How come Floyd Mayweather never gave a young lion a "passing of torch" fight?

I wonder why people still keep making threads about this man negatively, he's been truly retired for like a year+. Is it possible Money will continue to plague these people' minds for eternity?

He ducked Thurman for two years, so what do you expect?

Floyd will never allow himself to have such a fight. His ego is too big and his earnings would suffer.

There's one problem with giving Floyd credit for fighting Drainelo. Floyd himself told Cotto that catchweight losses don't count. According to Floyd, that fight meant nothing.

    'Cause he's stingy.

But seriously, you feel that Floyd would have to be on the slide for any of the young guns of our diluted times to get by him. Great fighters do generally tend to be a little worse for wear when they pass that torch to the next gen. He was still looking very sharp when he fought Canelo, otherwise the readhead mestizo would surely have qualified as a young lion with a real shot at grabbing the torch. In the period since Floyd started to show clear signs of deterioration (I'm saying late 2014 through to his recent spar with McGregor), who could he have fought who had the profile to draw the big bucks? We know he's not getting out of bed to fight a kid like Errol Spence unless it's a big whopper of a purse. I really wanted to see Mayweather-Brook after Mayweather-Pac, but I knew it wasn't a reasonable expectation.

FWIW, I don't need to see Spence kick Floyd's butt to know that's what would happen if they met in 2017. Floyd fulfilled his dream by making ridiculous sums of money and getting out with 0 intact. It's not Leonard or Duran, but it was a creditable career and I'd feel churlish to begrudge him if he's happy with it.

Remember this --- Floyd MONEY Mayweather. No boxer can make money like Floyd. They only make money when they fight Floyd. Tremendous athlete, tremendous skill and he turned it into money. So many great fighters were unable to do this. Hats off or eat your heart out.

Only guy id worry about at 147 is Crawford. He beats all the other young lions in the game.

What are you talking about? He gave Conor a shot, and he fluffed it. Damn debut boxers don't know how to grab an opportunity!

Canelo?and btw for all the people who complain. Boxing is PRIZEFIGHTING. You know why the Goat Robinson had so many fights?because the money was there, only by fighting often. No PPV or tv deal format.

World runs around money. Floyd has made the smartest decisions for himself, and you know what? Life is about your happiness.

Greatest pricefighter ever handsdown. I don't give a **** about annoying fans,do you work free in your job?think about legacy? **** you complainers

Boxing is business. Floyd would been total idiot fighting 3-4 Times a year and risking it all.for what?so somebody who never archieved anything in his life, could speak about Floyd legacy??

Why we don't concentrate in our own life?i don't give a **** about Floyd. But the man is genious, and has taken care of his family.

Floyd does not live to satisfy you. He lives to satisfy himself and the one's he love.

Champion almost 20years,handsdown the GOAT in last 25years. GOAT prizefighter overall.

I take Floyd career everyday over anyone in boxing history. Ali was a great warrior.what it gave to Ali?parkinson and health problems. In my mind, that's quite stupid. I take my health and money allday over "legacy". What a great life Ali had when he was old.

No, because Keith was his mandatory for two years. Yet Floyd fought Berto!

Guys like yourself just can't see how Floyd avoided certain guys & styles.

    you're blaming the messenger
the fragmented federations enable fighters who become bigger than the sport to write their own rules. they don't need belts

Because it goes against his business model. Which is to win at all costs. Which is why all his opposition is past prime fighters, small fighters, UFC fighters or never any good fighters.

If he fights a young lion like Crawford then Floyd will lose. Which doesn't happen to Money. He can't afford to lose because then nobody will watch his fights. He's not an actual entertaining in ring fighter. He used to be decently fun to watch when he was PBF. When he turned to Money he started becoming a massive diva who cherry picked. Because he doesn't want to lose.

Which is why Floyd cherry picks. You want to see him lose, well he's not going to fight anybody young and very good because then he will lose. Because then folks like you won't buy his fights. I don't buy his fights because I'm not interested in the Money version of Floyd. If PBF was still around then I might buy a fight if the opposition was good. Like I'd pay to see Floyd vs Castillo. But since Mayweather is not interested in fighting anybody young and very good then I'm not buying them.
