As say Hatton, Khan (who in the past suggested Froch is jealous), Fury or Brook? (and the later two are in they early stages of they career) Again I'm not too sure considering I do not live out there. He seems to be on his way to the HOF and yet Khan and Fury seem to be getting more press than him, and with Hatton returning seems to leave Froch out in the cold in terms of popularity Checksheet Clearly England's best fighter check Trash talker & seems to have some charisma check Crowd pleasing style check Fights everybody, and even travles overseas to do so check His girlfriend is pleasing to look at check Does it have anything to do with his promoter and not being associated with Frank ******? Have these two every crossed paths? This seems to be the only issue I can think of. It cant be lack of speed & flash because Hatton and Fury and even Eubank and Benn in the past were not particuarlly flashy so Brits what is it?
He was with Hennessy for too long and was still fighting on that shitty Primetime maybe only four fights ago. When Adam Smith got the main job at Sky the first thing he did was get the Froch situation sorted out. It's as much to do with him being more of a hardcore fan's favourite as anything else. You have to remember,Hatton was the first winning boxer that was really accepted in a mainstream sense.Even Lennox was fairly ignored. Remember, the UK seems to prefer glorious losers like Henman and Bruno.Ricky was very much an exception.
Among those who know boxing Carl Froch IS the truth. The fact is had a very poor small time promoter for many years and for that reason he was never into the star he actually is. He's got a good promoter now but it's a little late in the day. But your right he should be a way bigger name than he is
Thanks for the responses yall, yea I figured it had to do with the promoter anybody care to list some popular and not so popular promoters in England I know off hand ******, Hennesy, Hearn is there anyone else that is as popular as ****** out there or is he kinda monopolizing things.
Lack of marketing ?...promotional outlets ?....television presence ?, etc. Lets face it, in most instances stars are made and the prior decision to do so is taken way before the status of the concerned individual is warranted... You're with the click or you're not.....
How would you know? You don't live here. His one of the more popular active fighters, probably only bettered by Khan and Haye in terms of fanbase (UK wise).
I don't think Hennessey was the problem he got Froch fighting on ITV, he also has Fury under his wing who is one of the best know fighters in England. I reckon this boils down to Frochs big Jewish nose. This kind of schnoz hasnt been seen in England since ***in. Deep rooted, subconscious anti semitism might be the problem here :think
Maybe. But your average man on the street is more likely to have heard of Degale, Chisora, Harrison, Fury etc they seem to get more mainstream coverage/interest
