mind you, Lewey, if you ask a man on the street of lewisham or london where you live then the first names on minds would more likely be Chisora and Harrison and other london based boxers.

Ask the same question in Nottinghamshire and its froch all the way.

Average man depends on where average man is.

the first sentence really is not true at all, you know. Hes just being a canny lad, its a common trait in northern and midland england, and his comments are laced with irony and the kind of bravado that is common up there.

Boring is definitely something he isnt, hes got a cutting sense of humour.

You make a good point but Audleys a household name cos of the olympic gold and Chisora got quite famous off his Klitschko antics and Haye fight, Froch just hasnt seemed to break into the general publics consciousness as much as some of these other lesser fighters :-(

mmm i can see the powerful regionality in your words. Prhaps I am talking about adulation more than fame.

Pay a visit to Nottingham sometime, Froch is not far off being the local Alan Shearer/Ricky Hatton in his locale, and that was several years ago. Hes practically Robin Hood's 6th merry man now.

Obviously I cant comment on the views of east londoners, I've not lived there, but I suspect theres a similar apotheosis of local sporting heroes there. And with good reason, the capital has produced some awesome stars (though they more often than not have foreign roots these days - which is a decent accurate reflection of Britain today).

He's too deadpan and professional to cross over in the way of Hatton.

Among boxing fans he's rated very highly. But he hasn't had much in the way of cross-over success -- a little bit maybe, but not much.

It's kind of like Ward, though. He's hardly a household name in america, yet is a superb boxer. Sometimes it's personality that dictates airtime, rather than talent.

Lennox didn't get as much crossover love as Bruno until after the Tyson fight.

He's not a media tart, basically.

Bruno was such a character. It was so difficult not to like Brown Sauce. He was a serious media tart, true lol. Knew how to butter us up with his chatchphrases. He was an intelligent bloke really, until that white ***** fcuked him over.

I found Lennox unconvincing at first. Dont ask me why, it was perhaps his face, he didnt have the look of a boxer. That all changed once I saw his fists fly a few times, he scares the **** out of you the way he goes frmo calm to destructive in a split second.
