How come I became heavier even though I became skinnier?

When I get to the point I do matches I've always wanted to fight at middleweight (6'2/1.90cm) 75kg has always been the weight I've been at until I started boxing and doing more cardio. Now I'm at around 80kg and I don't think I can cut down to 75 without becoming unhealthy, so guess I'll just have to fight at LHW.

But how did I gain 5 kilos? I even look more toned/skinnier in the mirror and I doubt I gained 5 kilo of muscle without hitting weights

Increased your capacity to store glycogen, increased your stroke volume (more blood) and yes probably some hypertrophy of your muscles. You're welcome.

If you're more cut and heavier then you've gained muscle. Good job.

81kg is probably the best weight for you as you can make it no sweat (literally).

What's the point of this post? Your answer is inferior to mine. Let us read the complete answer to the question and then look at the post afterwards that answers a quarter of the question, makes sense doesn't it.

It's Lefty. He was torn apart by us in another thread and tucked tail and ran outta here. now back under another handle, back to insulting people and pretending to be intelligent and superior.

No lefty would know that stroke volume has nothing at all to do with weight... What a ******ed thing to say.

i also have the same problem

many times people told i look more skinny
    and fit etc

but i go to the scales and i am heavier

    this is odd

but yeah i do lift weights

but still odd because i look in the mirror and i look smaller
    period
    muscle or fat whatever
    i just look smaller

Functional Mass is dense. Fat is not.

Increased muscle mass leads to more water being held. So more water + increase in dense functional mass = reduced size + more weight

    Its as simple as that.

Stroke Volume is more to do with hypertrophy of the heart chambers I believe and would have an absolutely miniscule effect on weight.
