Bernard hopkin, Oscar de la hoya, Gennady Golovkin ... all can call out floyd, who fight 1-2 ( even more if for bhop ) below them but Miguel Cotto can't fight floyd for the 160 title, which is 1 division above Mayweather ( if you consider his 154 belt, because he also fight at 147 ).

    Please explain your logic ?

Because while Cotto is the champion at 160 he is still not perceived as the best fighter there. He needs to do some clean up at middleweight before looking for a payday from one, a guy who already best him, and two, against a guy who has never fought at 160. Cotto is one of my all time favs, but soo.er or later he is going to have to fight GGG. When that happens i dont think it will end well for him. But he has had a great career and has been a great champion for many years now.

If they want to fight at the MW limit, it's acceptable. However, if they come up with some ****amamie catch weight of 154 1/2 pounds it will be fishy. And secondly, if neither Cotto or Mayweather would be willing to face their top challenger at the actual weight limit, the whole exercise would seem to lack authenticity.

The reality is that Cotto was able to use his superior name recognition to get first crack at Martinez, who is perceived to be damaged goods at this point.

Miguel has haters now. He never used to until he outclassed and exposed a certain overrated fighter with a huge fan base. They will never forgive him for that.

He got "haters" as you would put it, when he / his team said Bradley is a bigger fight for 160 belt than GGG.

Using money to get the first crack at a cripple, then using said belt for paydays against Welters when everyone knows you are far from the best in the division is something frowned up by most fans.

Almost 2 years now since WBC green belt has actually been challenged for by a legit 160lb contender....

The problem isn't really with Cotto personally(though he does have his haters in his way). It's the disappointment factor of not getting Pacquiao vs Floyd coupled with the fact that Cotto and Floyd have already fought, and while it was quasi-competitive, Floyd clearly won. I don't really see anything changing on that status in a rematch and there would probably be some catchweight BS from Floyd also.

    What a joke

Martinez wanted that fight. It was a payday for him.

Thats why he duped the fans and went ahead and fought Cotto despite not being 100% lying about it the whole way.

He thought he could beat the smaller man despite being less than 100%

    He bought his own hype.

The reality is, he'd have lost even if he was 100%

Cotto isn't allowed to call out Floyd because Floyd might actually listen to him. Hopkins and GGG can say whatever they want, there's no way Floyd's fighting them. But I don't need Quitto's dumb ass getting in the way of the Manny fight right now. He needs to f off and go lose to Alvarez or GGG.

If Cotto is so great he should just up and fight GGG then. If he beat Golovkin and became Undisputed lineal champ at 160, that would be something worth talking about and heck Floyd would even get some credit for beating him again.

Not that it would ever happen, GGG flattens Cotto and his whole team knows it.

First of all the fight would NOT be at Middleweight. It would be some bull**** catchweight title fight, so it wouldn't truly be a 160 fight. Secondly, for Floyd to fight Cotto, who he already fought and beat decisively would be Floyd phoning one in because I can't see the fight going any differently the second time. We could all just go watch the first fight instead of paying for the second.

    GGG would probably beat Cotto

But GGG would have slaughtered Martinez's overrated ass in embarrassing fashion at any point in his career

We're not talking about GGG here. We're talking about overrated Martinez and his emotional, effeminate fan base :hey
