How come Keith Thurman is never mentioned in the 154lb conversation?

He may still be a little crude skillwise, I think he could challenge any of the current top 3 154lb's. With the type of power he posseses he can get away with his lapses in defense. I would like to see him in with Kirkland, Cotto, Canelo or Trout. Give the guy a shot, oh wait let me guess, he's to big and should be fighting in a higher weight division, right?!

I think it's because he himself said he'd prefer to fight at 147.

He's also somewh new to the big scene.

I think he's at least surpassed the "prospect" tag. He's ranked #3 by the WBA, #2 by the WBO and #9 by the IBF at 154.

He hasn't been really tested, so I don't get the hype around this fella. Secondly, who the hell is Keith Thurman? Before he cries for a title shot, let him be able to sell tickets. Cotto and Canelo can fight whomever they want until Thurman can prove to put butts in the seats.

Until he passes the "Abregu" test... He is still a prospect.

He's a good boxer, but the division is much too deep.

    1) His best wt is 147lb but he doesn't get fights there. 2) He's a prospect and they don't get mentioned as much unless they are can't miss'ers...he is not a can't miss'er.

People seem to write him off as a Haymon hype job. I want to see what he can do against better talent but this is the kind of guy you duck, I don't think he would be a walk over for any fighter and 147 or 154.

He is scheduled to fight on the upcoming Hopkins-Cloud card in March.

Rumor is they are trying to get Jan Zavek to fight him.

This seems to have slipped through unnoticed. But not by me. I smiled.
