Tyson was a beast in his prime, the head movement, the power, the pressure. . . . Tyson has argubally the greatest style in boxing history

Off the top of my head:

Lennox Lewis- knocked the hell out in his prime by Tyson's sparring partner and Rahman; safety first boring style; best win is probably Golata; did I mention boring?

Mike Tyson- fun to watch a fast, powerful phenom knock people out.

Because while Tyson was cleaning out the division with spectacular knock-outs, Lennox was hiding in England fighting bums. When Tyson was thrown in prison, Lennox came to America. Sound suspicious?

Tyson has 1.3 million followers on twitter, and Lennox like 100k puts into perspective Lewis can never match Tyson's fame.

    Lets not go nuts.

Lewis often took guys out brutally and early

    Ruddock
    Grant
    Golota
    Botha
    Rahman II
    Briggs

Were all taken out in the first 5 rounds.

Whereas Wlad takes 9-10 rounds to take out inferior competition that he could take out in half the time if he just opened up.

But no, he jabs/straight rights a guy into submission and THEN when the guy has nothing left he eventually finishes it.

Tyson transcended the sport. To this day, he is the PPV king (over Oscar).

Plus his ear-biting antics, jail time and of course, his style make him probably the most famous fighter since Ali.

I agree that Lennox is the better fighter though. But that has nothing to do with fame.

There's still that so-called "myth" that a prim Tyson (a total of three years between 1986-1989) could potentially beat any fighter in history. Probably not true, but still a possibility.

Obviously there was that aura around Tyson and all the controversy of what he said and did. Lewis was a choir boy compared to Tyson.

A huge part of it is due his dynamic, evocative name.
His name has a cool easy to remember ring to it for the casual/non Boxing fan.
If he had been the same fighter but called say, 'Thomas Worthington' he wouldnt be as well remembered.
He'still be in remembered in Boxing history by fans, but not as well by the person in the street.

Tyson in his prime was a much more exciting fighter, I never really got that excited about watching Lewis fight.
