How come no one mentions Pavlik's shakey chin?

I gotta call BULL****!!!! There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with Pavlik's chin. In fact it is probably ABOVE average. His last 6 opponents had a combined 116 knock outs, and I notice he is still UNDEFEATED! The only reason he got in trouble against Taylor was that he did something stupid and paid for it. Watch the ****ing tape! JT through a really good combination with several punches landing flush, but it hardly even bought him a blink. (That first combination would have taken out a lot of guys.) Then JT through a really blatant elbow, and Pavlik responded to the elbow by dropping his hands and sticking his chin out as if to say; "**** you taylor, bring it on." That's when he got in trouble. Stupid mistake, but hey, at 25 he's entitled to make a few mistakes as long as he learns from them.

Against McKart his gloves brushed the canvass, and the ref ruled in a KD.

That leaves Zuniga who caught Kelly with a big left hook in the first round, but Zuniga got beat up bad enough that he failed to answer the bell for round 10.

I get just fed up with this chin ****. According to some of you any fighter who goes down has a suspect chin. Danny Lopez used to go down damn near every fight, but he held the WBC 126 pound world title for over 4 years, and it took no less a fighter than Salvador Sanchez to dethrone him. No one has ever accused Lopez of a questionable chin.

How about Arguello? Down many times in his career. Did the great "El Flaco Explosive" have a "shakey chin? I thinking ****ing not!

How about Marciano? He went down many times but retired 49-0 as the HW champion of the world!

It ain't about whether a guy goes down. The greats are the ones who go down, get back up, and kick ass.

that was the original point of the thread guy, that people question everyones chin if they go down or lose one by KO.

Interesting post, and I would have to say I agree. The similarities are there, although Pavliks chin is slightly better.

People.... Pavlik got blasted! Just because a guy gets knocked down doesn't mean he has a glass jaw or "shaky chin"... Ray Robinson got knocked down plenty, does he have a "shaky chin"? Plenty of fighters with ordinarily solid chins get knocked down, this is boxing- you can get hit hard in there.

Yeah your right. The people who hates Kelly needs something negative about this guy but I don't think this post is dissing Pavlik. I think people in this post really just asking because most of us the first time seeing Kelly live is when he fought Zethue(sorry if I spelled the name wrong don't know how to spell his name).

There is certainly no shame in getting knocked down in a fight, and getting back up after absorbing so many punches is admirable.

However, I have to laugh when many people were saying before the fight that Taylor couldn't possibly hurt Pavlik since he had little in the way of power, citing his decision wins over Ouma and Spinks.

So, if Pavlik does have good chin, then obviously some underrated Taylor's power. If Taylor is indeed a weak puncher, then how can anyone conclude that Pavlik's isn't shakey.
I'll go with the former myself.

    (1) Many ESB members don't like Taylor's style, I don't think too may think he is so horrible. I don't know how long you've been reading this site. When I started posting, I'd been reading for over 3 years. Some members are trolls, submitting wind up posts where any fighter they don't like: is overrated, has faught "nobody", "is fighting in a weak era", etc.
    (2) Pavlik was hit by about a dozen punches by a fresh JT before he went down. Then got up, survived the round, had a good rnd 3, and stopped JT in the 7th. Hardly a bad chin.
    (3) As RJJ aged and slowed a bit, his jaw was indeed exposed.
    (4) Pater, with his burly "no neck" build had developed a rep as having an iron chin. While McCline is a big HW, he does not punch his size. Getting KD 3X by McCline while being hyped as some HW destroyer with an iron jaw will generate many critical posts. But I don't think any rational fan thinks Peter has a glass or shaky jaw. I don't.

Most people exaggerate to make a point even if they are not too biased. Thus Lewis has a shaky or glass jaw - same for Wlad K and other fighters. Pavlik has his share of critics. His chin/jaw is most likely average - like for most fighters. Keep reading.

    :deal

Good post! Spot on if ya ask me. I always felt that a fighter that gets off the canvas and wins, shows more than one that has never been there in the first place....if that makes any sense.

Taylor was criricised for notputting a dent in smaller guys with suspect chins like Stinks and Ouma....then he has Pavlik down and falling around the ring. That says a lot about Pavlik's chin.....it's not proven yet but it smells very eggy at this point.

Pavlik chin is garbage probably the worst since Chico. Pavlik has been drop by journeymen and a world champ.

    Zuniga
    Burbeck
    McKart
    Taylor

The thing with Pavlik is that all of his fanboy negliect his chin stating that he's this and he's that....Taylor has never been down prior to Pavlik and if Taylor didn't suffer from Jameel McCline sydrome...Pavlik wouldn't be fighting the DUD on 1/26. Pavlik has been down 3 times prior to Taylor by you guess it....garbagemen and high school teachers aka journeymen

Pavlik gets stopped the minute he fights an elite fighter or rematches Taylor again.

Pavlik fanboys...."Pavlik got drop by Taylor because he got careless" ......NO!!! you miserable excuse for fanboys, Pavlik got DROPPED because he got punched in the face HARD by Taylor. Taylor had him doing the Zab Judah dance and beating him on the cards before Pavlik punched Taylor in his face and knocked him the phuck out.

Winky is right and I quote "Arum will have Pavlik fighting circus acts for the rest of his career, he will never put him in their with an elite fighter Gr*g, he will never put him in their with me".

When Taylor won his belt, here's his list of fighters....

    Hopkins
    Wright
    Ouma
    Spinks

And just how is Pavlik starting his title reign..

    John the DUD

    Leave much to be desired....

    Elites:
    Calzaghe
    Kessler
    Bute
    Dawson
    Taylor
    Wright
    Hopkins
    Abraham
    Sturm

    Up and commers:
    Lee
    Lorenzo
    Green
    Ward
Dirrell (I hate to say it)
    Codrington
    Green
    Lacy
    Manfrado

Names of boxers who will OWN Pavlik. His fanboys think that all Pavlik has to do is hit you once and down you go...it took him several punches to get Taylor out of there. Do u think he going to hit the elites like that...HELL NO, they will box the sh*t out of his crude a$$!!!

It take more then power to win fights and Pavlik is no prime Tyson.

    Pavlik is TRASH.
