How come no one mentions Pavlik's shakey chin?

Pavlik does NOT have a Marvin Hagler chin.

BUT, I don't think that Pavlik has a glass jaw either.

Pavlik's problem is NOT so much the quality of his chin, as
it is the way that he gets hit. Looks like he doesn't roll
with punches, but rather that he gets hit solidly!!!

He is so focused on destroying his opponent that he disdains
defense and runs into heavy punches.

I think that his chin is decent, but no George Chuvalo.

Because 99.9% of all the talk about "chins" on this board is meaningless bull**** by people who don't know a ****ing thing. The less crap threads where fools posture about who has a "bad chin" the better.

 

We may never agree on anything else on this board - and while I know your 99.9% number is for effect - I highly agree with your post :good

A lot of fights are stopped way too early. Scott Lawton was not TKOd from a knock down vs. Amir Khan. Emanuel Clottey was TKOd when he lost balance with four damn seconds left in the fight. He was fully conscious and aware. The announcers thought the fight was stopped in Huerta vs. Hinojosa, and acted as if there was nothing wrong with it in the second round. The ref let them continue and it went 12 rounds. I could go on and on.. these are just examples that occurred in the last month.

 

Pavlik was hit by like a 12 punch combination and got right back up, lol . What fighter wouldnt go down after getting hit by so many consecutive flush full power shots?

 

exactly if he had no chin he would have been stoped in the 2nd right.

 

ONly reason y people dot mention Pavliks chin is b/c he won. Point blank, while im not a big fan of Pavlik, cant take away teh fact he won. People are going waaaay overboard with this dude, he got KD in the 2nd lets not 4get that, and if Jermain would hae just finished him this whole convo wouldnt even b happening right now. SO be4 people continue to plug him as hes this unstoppable force, lets not 4get that JT put him down and could Knocked him out. SO some posters need 2 b realistic about this guy. I give him all the rrspect in the world from getting back up and doing wat he had to do. But lets not get carried away here with Pavlik. I guaratee, like I said be4 Power can only take you so far, and if he doesnt work on his defense some1 will KO him. I kno i will probably catch flack from nuthuggers on this point, but un-biased posters kno its the truth.

 

It's funny. If Taylor landed maybe a few more big shots, there would millions of posts about how Pavlik was the biggest hype job ever, a tomato can, the great white hope, and didn't belong in the same ring. Instead, he is superman.

Someone with a bad chin gets decked by a single punch and often doesn't get up. That is the pure definition of a bad chin.

Someone who eats one solid shot after another and finally goes down does not have a bad chin. And it could arguably be rated as great just that they managed to make other mistakes (not taking a knee).

History has shown lots of iron chin guys got caught but managed to pull it out. A very few of them have never been dropped but at the same time they have also consistently been responsible with their guard.
