I think he is a great talent, a hell of a lot better than that pretender Wilder. Joe gets no love at all. And it's criminal, IMHO. Wilder? Worst reign as champ in years, and a stupidly padded record. Ortiz? Great talent, still hasn't fought the big names. Mostly not his fault. AJ? One good win. Haye? Moving on... Parker is young, can be exciting to watch when he is "on", seems willing to fight anyone, and has the makings of a great champ. Yet seems criminally overlooked. Why?
He seems to have a bit of a boring personality. Although, I think someone like Povetkin is boring in that sense too but he has been out there long enough to make him interesting.
I like Parker, he's a nice guy, he acts very mature. He dresses sharp too. He's old school. But these days it helps if you act like a **** and dress like a ****.
Two words; Kevin Barry. Parker has a high ceiling but has seriously stalled IMO. He still has the same flaws in his game (I emphasise the word "still" because I've criticised him for both of these flaw since before his Takam fight). He goes back in straight lines and is too upright coming forward which means it doesn't matter if he's boxing on the front or back foot, he is simply too easy to hit. And the Ruiz fight (which I scored a draw) highlights this perfectly, when Ruiz was able to trade combinations successfully with Parker the big Kiwi tried to box a little more off the back foot and yet despite having a height and range advantage he was still losing rounds to Ruiz. Do you think Joshua would lose 5-6 rounds against Ruiz? Or get taken the distance by D level Cojanu? If he drops Barry and shows signs of improvement I'll get back on the hype train, until then I think he loses to Joshua, Povetkin, Ortiz and even Wilder.
Still one of the best HW (prospects) out there. Didn't live quite up to the hype, but certainly one of the best and dares to take risks. I'm worried he gets the visitors treatment tomorrow though, everything points into that direction.
This. He is very bland, but it doesn't help that he doesn't really excel at anything. At best he is average at everything.
He just doesnt seem to get as much exposure as alot of other fighters, he doesnt make a lot of noise in press conferences or in the media, isnt the least bit controversial. And personally as a bit of hype was starting to build for him he fought his 2 best opponants and made reletivaly hard work of it compared to what you would assume the other main players in the division would do with them. Not being monsterous against those guys stagnated that hype. A good win over Fury followed by somebody else highly ranked or rated and the ball will get rolling. We have to get enough people believing that he is the real deal again or for the 1st time to get this ball rolling. Im sorta confident he can and will deal with Fury but im struggling to see him being able to compete with an Anthony Joshua right now.
