How come Pac gets more credit for ODLH than Joe gets for BHop?

I know man, I still rate Pac's performance better. I just still think Calzaghe doesn't get much credit for the Hopkins win. That's the Hopkins puzzle though- even when you beat him, you lose. People didn't give much credit for Joe or Jermain, they minimize Roy's win, and I'm sure before too long we'll hear about how his first fight was a robbery, too.

You just answered your own question in the first paragraph - Pac made DLH quit thus greater credit. Joe beat Hopkins but Hopkins managed to get in some good shots and the victory for Calzaghe wasn't as great.

it's impossible to look good against a veteran like hopkins unless you knock him out, which most likely wont happen.

Calzaghe was given much more credit IMO, especially considering what Hopkins did afterwards.

I think the Pavlik fight showed everyone WHY the Calzaghe-Hopkins fight was as close as it was. Hopkins WASN'T shot, and there was a reason why Calzaghe couldn't exert his usual workrate.

Calzaghe is rated high enough; in his rightul place in the bottom end of a post-war top 100, there's no shame in that.

H2H at 168 I only rank Jones (prime) higher. At LHW I can't envision him beating the likes of Saad, Spinks, Charles, Foster etc etc etc

Finally some one talks sense , where you have got it from that Pac got more credit from defeating a terrible De La Hoya than Joe did beating BHop ill never know the DLH fight is a blur on the history of the Golden Boy and passed over as if it never happend because of the weight issues .

Calzaghe Hopkins is firmly in the history books as a close evenly matched (yet boring some may think) fight !!!!!!!

Calzaghe's win was a disputed SD that many though Hopkins won

    Pacman 6th Weight class

    Pacman dominated

Joes looked **** against the only elite guy he ever faced way past his prime

Calzaghe's was the better win regardless of how much credit people give. It's pretty obvious Hopkins is a way superior fighter at this point.

Because Pacquiao beat the **** out of DLH, and Joe slapped his way to a split decision.

Plus Pacquaio is a former flyweight, and an all round little 'un, whereas De La Hoya is one opponent removed from a heavyweight champion.

Obviously B-Hop was a better opponent than a shot-DLH, but the nature of the win is all important in the credit stakes.

    Because Pacman beat DLH.

    Did Calzaghe really beat Hopkins?
