How come Pavlik and Wlad have been able to hold on to the titles

Wlad and Pavlik have played ball, that's why they've held onto their titles. There are no big fights out there for Wlad(besides Haye), so he can just sit back and fight mandos once or twice a year. Wlad also has good name recognition. So that combined with his good track record of defending against mandos allows him to get more slack from the orgs. The same thing with Pavlik. Abraham was the only big fight at MW. So he can just sit back and beat up on mandos. Dawson was chasing money which is why he got stripped twice. Bradley got screwed though. He had two mandos due at once and the WBC didn't want to give him a break. I guess he's not a big enough name for them to grant him exceptions.

 

And that's a damn shame because that kid is the most dynamic 140-pounder out there, imo.

Actually, the orgs thought they HAD stripped Kelly. When the fight with Paul Williams fell through because Kelly's hand wasn't ready to go they told him to fight by the end of the year or be stripped. Arum had to put together a quick fight/venue, etc... and find a ranked fighter that would take a short notice fight that Kelly could beat with one hand. So in essence, they THOUGHT they had stripped him because I doubt they thought Kelly would be able to fight by the end of the year.

 

Knowing the sanctioning bodies I wouldn't even be surprised if that happened.
