how come pro boxers never compete in the Olympics?

    all about the cash.could you imagine cotto and margarito as pros fighting on a tuesday afternoon in say the second round of the olympics with headgear on!drafting in pros for other events doesnt depend on ppv revenue and promoters getting involved.

    People, are you not reading the ****ing thread? It has nothing to do with money. It's against AIBA rules for pros to compete. It's simple as that. AIBA is the Amateur body, and it doesn't let pros compete in the amateurs.

    Are you saying there are no spinning kicks or kicks to the head in Olympic Taekwon-do? I was watching some of it before and I'm sure I saw some spinning back kicks and kicks to the head... or maybe you meant something else.

    i know its the rules but the post that started the tread nevere knew.if pros could enter,they still would'nt economics wise

    Pretty much...at least no major pros would.

    Think guys like Hopkins,Pavlik or Taylor would risk their big ppv money to compete in the olympics? Probably not.

    With the way amateur judging sucks many professional boxers would be ridiculed in bouts against amateurs if they ever fought and this would create greater havoc in the boxing ranks...
