Never fought the likes of Cotto/Margarito and boxers of this class

Just looking through his boxrec record and dont get me wrong there are a few decent opponents but surely he would of had a better valuable record for fighting boxers of the above calibre?

I agree, people say he "beat everyone apart from Mayweather and Pacquiao" but in reality he didn't, Hatton was a good fighter don't get me wrong but I think he would have been beaten a few times had he fought fighters such as

    Zab Judah
    Shane Mosley
    Antonio Margarito
    Miguel Cotto
    Joshua Clottey
    Ricardo Mayorga

    even....Junior Witter

other than the Pac and Mayweather fights he really didn't fight anyone of note, Tzsyu is the only one and that's not enough imo.

they were happy getting 20,000 in the MEN for an easy nights work

it's why i have trouble rating hatton

Carefully matched in a time when the influential people behind him could get away with hyping 'poor' fights. Tad harsh but true imo

Yeah its always bothered me tbh lol. Dont get me wrong I have followed Hatton for years and years and I been to see him fight on so many occasions and he was a top boxer but i could never get my head around him not fighting the above boxers. Shame really.

maybe if he had a few of the above fights this would of set him in good stead for pacman etc

Hatton was a 140 pound fighter, the names mentioned were all welterweights by the time he was fighting the best.

Hatton was never a welterweight, he only fought there to get the fight against Mayweather - who was p4p #1.

Mallignaggi was ranked #1 at 140 behind Hatton when they fought, so was Castillo. He fought everybody at his weight that had any interest to HBO where he was fighting.

Witter was a debatable #1 for one fight, after he beat Harris, at the same time that Hatton was fighting Mayweather. Witter lost his next fight.

The one fight he had at welterweight, against Luis Collazo, was a tough fight and one that showed he probably wasn't as good at 147.

Hatton had already beaten Tsyzu, who was p4p #2 at the time.

Mayweather was p4p #1, and worth the risk of fighting outside his best division I suppose.

Hatton maximized his earnings, I don't think that is up for debate, he timed things perfectly though clearly got decimated in the two biggest match-ups.

No need to be apologetic, I like many was a big fan upon his rise to fame, but it's done. I can't imagine him making it back down to 140 healthy and competitive, just no.

    A) lots more money
    B) After he left ****** Hattons relationship was with Golden Boy in Ameirca, Cotto, Margarito are Top Rank fighters, have you noticed how reluctant he is to match his fighters with guys who aren't in his stable?
