Yes, it's true. That would be like Obama signing on to be George W. Bush's limo driver.

People complaining about what Hopkins said to Pavlik is a read herring. It's nothing but a ploy to distract people from what's important. Pavlik was completely dominated in that fight, that's what's important. What Hopkins said afterwards is irrelevant. And to tell you the truth, Pavlik should be listening to any advice that he can get. The whole talk out of his and Loew's mouth leading up to this fight was how Pavlik was going to dominate and stop Hopkins. Pavlik looked like foolish out there and needs to add some wrinkles to his game. He can't rely on those 1-2 combos his whole career.

If Pavlik won and told Hopkins he should learn to fight like a white fighter, it would be a huge issue.

    Double standard.

its not a double standard because "white fighters" dont have a generalized style or share any similar technique amongst each other... if they did it wouldnt be bad statement if it stood true

He never said anything wrong there, just meant that Pavlik needs to work on his movement I guess and there's nothing wrong with that. Most of the good movers in boxing are black fighters anyway, I don't see the big deal here.

In his early fights Pavlik was a bit of a slick fighter. He used to move really well.

Wrong. Have you seen any of his amateur fights?, the reason why he wasn't a successful amateur is because he lacked that. He needs to position his self to land his shots and can't fight while moving, in the amateurs you don't go too far if you can't do that and he never had that.

People have no clue what racism is. There is nothing racist about what Hopkins said. Simply bringing up race is not racist. Hopkins had a white trainer and has several close white friends. What kind of racist does this?

1-it wasnt an ignorant comment its a true comment

2- rocky goes to the black trainers & the black training facilities because he wanted to learn to fight like a black fighter...... so i guess to whiners you could call the whole movie racist... thats what hopkins told to pavlik basically

3- who your rooting for has nothing to do with anything

Like it or not, there is always the subtext of race when a black guy and a white guy fight. When Bernard says thing like "I would never lose to a white guy" he is just talking about a subject that some people don't think should be talked about, does Bernard hate white folk? Doubt it, he is just being tribal and/or playing mind games with his opponent.
I don't have a problem with what B-Hop said to Pavlik after the fight, but it seems a bit dumb to suggest that all black fighters move the same way; if anyone should have a problem with what Bernard said last night, it should be black folk, because what he said was a pretty big generlization.
