How come Sugar Ray Leonard didn't force Hagler into a catchweight?

Void owns Vegas and Showtime. Void knows that all he has to do is run, hold, headbutt, elbow, whatever he wants to do. Void can't lose a decision in Vegas and he knows it.

Would you say Ray 'raped' Hagler?

I am not sure it was the war with Mugai, I think it was that Marvin lost his motivation after Hearns. He took a year off, although it was inadvertant. He broke his nose in sparring is what the story was, so a Nov. fight card with he and Mugabi and Hearns and Shuler was moved to March 10, 1986 - 4 months later. Then the fight with Ray took place a year and a month after that.

And Hagler had had fights at 12 rounds, and recently fought in the same size ring.
So Ray negotiated gloves, like Morales,Hopkins and most veterans do when they fight on.

Someone mentioned the venue as well.

Does anyone think that Vegas' main venue at the time favoured Ray,given that Marvin fought for years in small venues and was happy to be getting bigger fights in Vegas at the tail end of his career?

Where should the biggest fight in history have happened?
    Brockton?

From Four Kings: When Leonard described Hearns as 'a shot fighter', Tommy responded: 'You more shot than I am'.

Canelo is probably bigger than Hagler, and Leonard was bigger than Mayweather.

Hagler was actually a very small Middleweight who didn' drain at all and he was small in terms of height aswell. Nowadays, he'd probably be a welterweight whereas Canelo has the same fight night weight as the Unified Super Middleweight champion, Carl Froch.

To put the size differential into perspective, Floyd has the same in-ring weight as Amir Khan and Canelo has the same fight night weight as Carl Froch.

Not at all. That fight was close and either guy could have gotten the nod on the cards. He screwed him in the sense that he got to pick and get everything he wanted. Gloves, bigger ring, etc.

This is true. But he made that fight with Mugabi much harder than he had too. They were pissing blood after the fight

Floyd wants a catchweight at 154, its still for the JMW titles.

Leonard dictated not only the ring size and other terms, but also he waited until Hagler had slowed a little bit in 1987. Canelo is young and hungry, and Floyd is 37 and only fought at his weight division twice.
