How come the Lennox Lewis vs Vitali Klitschko fight didn't go to the scorecards if it went 6 rounds?

Good score card but, round two could be a 10-8 round as Lewis was on unsteady legs, worse than say a flash knockdown. The cut was caused a lose tape, a head butt, or a punch? We don't know but Vitali said in the post fight interview he was butted and the definitely was a clash of heads just after the punch landed. Fightnews.com reports the cut was due to lose tape on Lewis's glove.

A re-match was in order. Lewis who benefited greatly from re-matches ( Think of where he be without them losing twice early via one punch KO ) said he would give one but when the WBC ordered the re-match it was put up or shut up time and he promptly retried. Never mind the fact that he was busy trying to make matches post-Vitali with Roy Jones and Kirk Johnson!

At the end of the fight Lewis was dead tired and could barely raise his hand. We all saw how much energy Vitali had when he learned the ring doctor stopped the fight.

Indeed he did, on the official scorecards.
    I had it 3-3, however ;)

Stop saying that like its not his own choice. Grown man in his late 30's.
His mommy made him not fight the mean man again...

    Shits ridiculous.

LOL Let me educate you. The fight was stopped due to a bad cut caused by a legal blow. Lewis was not even in good shape for that fight. It was Lewis's lack of training that made the fight competitive, not what Vatali did. Lewis would have come in tip top shape for the rematch and destroyed Vatali. Lenox did Vatali a favor not rematching him. As a Vatali fan, you should be thanking mister Lewis.

I've seen that article before, yes. It might be a case of "lost in translation" as the part of the article that quotes Vitali is definitely written in poor English. I find it hard to believe those to be direct quotes from Vitali as he speaks better English than those "Yoda sentences" there.

In any case, it could well be as both Lennox's mum and wife protested the rematch as Manny Steward definitely talked about his wife as the one who stopped the rematch from happening:

"JENNA: Emanuel, I want to get your thoughts on why we never saw a Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko rematch. Did you ever want to see this fight happen?

STEWARD: Yes. I told Lennox after. I said, “Lennox, I feel that we owe it to Vitali to fight this rematch. Sometimes you fight for your glory and money, but this is a fight that we owe to the fans. We’ve made millions of dollars in boxing. We need to do this”, and Lennox was in agreement for it. Even a year after Lennox had quit, he and I would be talking about the fight and he worked alongside me in the broadcast for one of the fights with Wladimir. He would say, “Look! He’s dropping his right hand when he jabs!” He was talking to himself like really getting wired up and envisioning himself fighting Vitali, but his wife was the one that said, “Nope! That’s it”. It was like one of the conditions when they were married. She didn’t want him to fight anymore, but Lennox did have the urge to fight again and if they did fight a rematch it would have been an unbelievably exciting fight."

As a human, you should learn to spell. I was talking about the Vitali-Kirk Johnson match, but you're too stupid to figure that out. Kindly never respond to me again.

You're the stupid one! I'm talking about what happened to Lewis. You're the jackass that brought up Kirk Johnson. Which has nothing to do with Lewis. And as long as you post on this site, I will respond to you. Now block me like the little ***** I know you are. LOL

You're just upset because you cannot refute the facts. You're probably one of those Vatali fans calling Lewis a ducker. That's why you brought up that nonsense about Vatali/Johnson and how Lewis would have fought Johnson if he won. But, that means nothing. The OP asked the question, why the rematch never happened. Short answer, Lewis retired. He did not fight anyone else, so it wasn't a duck. Lewis whooped that ass and road off into the sunset and became one of the worst boxing commentator in the last 30 years. LOL
