For holding? Jesus, Ward went into wrestler-mode, son!

Round 3 was a classic Ward actually went for a take down on SK, actually dropping his left arm for SK's right leg.

I wonder if the penny will finally drop on Ward as to why he has no fans outside his immediate family?

This is a rough and tough fight. Both fighters initiated the clinch, but I think Byrd did a great job officiating. He let them fight on the inside and broke them when he needed to!

Why should Ward have been punished when Kovalev was holding just as much whenever Ward got close?

He allowed Kovalev have Ward in a headlock for most of the time they fought inside. Dock Kovalev for that if you're docking Ward for clinching.

SK had to grab the head just in case Ward came flying up with his gigantic noggin.

For a so called P4P elite Ward is horrific to watch.

Well this is just completely wrong. Ward fights low inside and Kovalev had no answer to it legitimately so grabbed the head which is a dangerous move. That's like saying "I kicked him in the balls so that he couldn't hurt me". It's an illegal move. He was warned several times about leaning down on the neck. It's a clever tactic, a dirty one but it's probably the only way someone can combat Ward's inside game. Another referee would have docked Kovalev points.

What exactly is Wards inside game?

All I saw was a lot of grappling, hitting and holding. Ward makes Hopkins look like a prime JCC.

Agreed. I was screaming about this the whole time when I was watching with my friends. He was not only not using boxing rules, he was robbing fans of a good fight. There would have been even more action had ward not been a total wuss and held all the time. Robert Byrd is not a good referee. When I was as GENEROUS as POSSIBLE to ward I scored the fight 114 to 113 for him. When I was as generous as possible to Kovalev I scored fight 117 to 110. Kovalev DEFINITELY is superior to Kovalev. I am personally going to start a petition to perhaps get Donald Trump to look into the corruption of boxing because it was definitely on display tonight.

actually ward ending up in many headlocks was a result of illegal tactics, ward was ducking at times to waist height which is illegal, the ref once or twice warned kovalev about pushing he's head down but ward ducking he's head to waist height was the reason for that

If a guy is coming in low you hit him with an uppercut. How else is Ward meant to close the gap? By walking straight in and upright? Dipping and bending at the waist is a perfect legal approach to boxing.
Its like you know nothing at all about boxing.

by low he ducked to waist height which is illegal, i never said coming in low was against the rules, coming in at waist height is

and to asnwer your question if a guy is coming in low, you hit him with an upprcut, however if the guy coming in low is named andre ward you put him in a headlock to protect yourself from headbutts

He only ducked waist level once , twice at a push , which amounted to no more than 10 seconds of the fight. Krusher had no uppercut for any of the many times Ward got inside on him. He has no inside skill at all.

and ward does? wards inside game consists of wrestling and rabbit punching.

if they broke the punch stats down, kovalev more than likely landed twixe as much head shots while the majority of wards punches were jabs to the body or punches half in the clinch

Yeah , he does. Krusher locked up his arms all night long to take it out of the fight , yet Ward was still able to have success and eventually broke him down.
