I think Wladimir would have won a rematch, even in 2003 or 04. I think he would have come in a lot more alert and eventually knock Sanders out.

Just rewatched this fight and the first left hand that Sanders landed that snapped Wlads head back was an absolute missile! Credit to Wlad for not going down on that shot :yikes That shot was insanely quick and hard.

When Sanders gassed against Rahman he had a bad knee and could not train as well as he wanted to.

Vs Vitili, he had a bad back...told everyone about it ahead of time....

it was that fight that never happened against Jones that led to him being stripped, that put the crimp in his carreer.

Immagine has he a bit of money from a couple of fights as Champion, he could have delayed the fight with Vitili until his back was good, and had much better sparing partners.

He could not afford to delay the fight, he'd given out too much of the little money he made as challanger at Hanover on a training camp.

A rematch could've been made too. I think Wlads advisors decided against a rematch. Worked out well for Wlad in the end. A southpaw with fast hands and decent power at heavy will bother a lot of heavies

quite possibly but why not after Vitaly's conquest? i'm sure corrie would've loved another good payday which it would have been as sanders didn't embarass himself vs vitaly and plus the revenge factor. I'm sure corrie would've gave the rematch up till a couple of years ago (before losing on a body punch in a failed comeback). I think it's quite possible Wlad never really wanted that rematch and I guess it's hard to blame him...

obviously wlad has no problems fighting damaged goods: see Brewster 2, Byrd 2, mercer, and Rahman fights

good or bad thing then avenging defeats? didnt lewis fight Rahman twice to avenge that defeat? didnt holmes fight ali, damaged goods? Lewis fought a washed up Tyson. Haye has only beaten damaged goods in heavyweight fights....uh, i think ur post failed to properly insult the champ....try again!

    FAIL

Also see Byrd 1, Undefeated Chagaev, Ibragimov, Chambers, Brock, and Peter 1. And wasn't Byrd considered the best of the heavyweight champs when Wladimir beat him in 06? Nice try with the insult. Hope you enjoyed the fight on Saturday :good

This thread is a lie! Vlad tried to get a rematch with Sanders, but Sanders refused to fight him, check out the record! Vlad would have knocked Sanders out in a rematch.
