The Marco Antonio Barrerra v Prince Naseem fight to the Joe Calzaghe v Jeff Lacy fight?

Both were two established fighters against two fighters that had a slight bit being unproven about them and then both received a boxing lesson

Naz was far better than Lacy, but it is a decent comparison.

Lacy was a 4 year pro who had just won a title... Naz was considered one of the pound for pound best fighters at the time.

It's a matter of styles, but I'd much prefer to re-watch Barrera's domination then Calzaghe's domination (but then again, I prefer Calzaghe's performance against Kessler over his one against Lacy. Against Lacy, he was wild and not smooth [although still brilliant]. Against Kessler, he was much more smooth and fluid [and simply easier on the eye])

They are comparable to an extent, 2 fighters who were exposed when they stepped up to the plate against world-class fighters and beaten easily and ruined because of the fights, with Lacy nothing more than a gatekeeper nowadays and Hamed retiring. Barrera and Calzaghe aswell were the boxers in the fights, with Hamed and Lacy relying mainly on their power. Hamed was more proven than Lacy though, he had a better resume but then again Lacy was the favourite for the Calzaghe fight.

    Not very comparable.

    Calzaghe outclassed Lacy.

Barrera and Hamed was closer than people like to remember.

    yep.

whilst barrera was comfortably in control of the bout naz still took 2/3 rounds off him.

lacy took absolutely nothing but 36 minutes of brutal punishment and his fans the biggest serving of crow.

    MAB schooled and outboxed naz.
calzaghe schooled, outboxed and beat up lacy.

both great great wins and both slight underdogs going into the bouts crazily enough.

But then again, Lacy was no Hamed (as much as I hated the little dick).

So in the end, I see Barrera's win still being the better one. Much better, actually.

simply barreras because hamed was a proven world class fighter, although hamed took some rounds,he was expected to win, barrera made me a fan straight away!

lacy was nothing but hype (mini tyson) against an unknown calzaghe (in US terms).

Not very - MAB vs Hamed was an old school lesson of skill and poise.

Calzaghe vs Lacy was simply one boxer understanding the game, himself and the other guy a lot more than the other.

Id say Naz was proving already he had beat Kelly,McCullough,Johnson,Medina ETC he just ran into a great fighter who was focused and had a good style.

I scored MAB vs Naz 116-111 - a few of the rounds were pretty close though, but Marco was a clear winner and had the perfect style to beat Naz

Calzaghe vs Lacy was 119-104 on my card (point deduction from Calzaghe included) it was a thorough, one sided beating from which his corner should have rescued him.

i'd say the only fight that compares to the outrageous beating Lacy took would be the overly outrageous beating Gatti took at the hands of Mayweather.....
