How crazy from a scale from 1-10 am I for thinking Duran beat Hagler?

I think Haglers caution just comes down to Duran being the much better boxer. As good as Hagler was Duran is one of the best ever full stop.

Hagler would have come off worse for a good while if he’d tried to Brawl with Duran, I mean, he was trying to hit him and Duran was countering him.

Hagler being the bigger stronger guy with an Iron chin would eventually beat Duran in a war, he was beating him on the inside. But he runs the risk of tiring and making himself look bad in a different way if he just goes hell for leather at Duran until he presumably breaks him. Like he said, you don’t barrel in on a guy like Duran.

It’s fights like this that make me appreciate Duran even more, Hagler is at the very worst a top 5 middle and Duran just showed technically he was so much better. Duran is 32 as well, arguable if he was faster than Hagler at that point.

Hagler also got spooked by a cut, and was convinced Duran was angling for it in multiple different ways.

I think people were shocked at how well Duran did and that influences peoples judgment.
No question Hagler won but Duran's performance was very impressive.

Love Duràn, and hoped he'd win when the fight actually happened. Early on , I was so surprised that Duràn was not only competitive, but actually winning ( Remember all the " experts " and boxing mags thought Hagler would do to Duràn what Hearns did do to him a short time later! )
But as the fight got into the later rds, it was clear Hagler's size advantages were taking its toll on Duràn, and he really began to press at the beginning of what used to be considered the championship rounds, ( rounds 10-15)
Hagler won rds 13-15 clearly, and it won him the fight.
Duràn fought one of his most tactically efficient fights, and demonstrated the depth of his skill level.
Any other former and past prime lightweights in history I don't believe would survive prime Hagler.
That Duràn did, was clearly a testament to his overall skill level.
But Duràn clearly lost the fight, I said that the night of the fight, still say that over 40 yrs later.
