If Joshua's last 2 fights are any indication of his newly adopted fighting style, i expect him to bore Povetkin and the fans to death with a safety first UD using minimal offense, holding, and the hometown ref to help him win

He's dangerous for a few rounds but he'll be blowing out of his arse after 4 rounds, he was pretty much on his last legs against Price before he was able to get the knock out.

    AJ stops him between 6-9

I see Povetkin as a live underdog. He's definitely more of a threat than the betting odds suggest which mostly are around the 1/10 range.

But how big a threat Povetkin is depends upon what strategy Joshua employs. If he patiently boxes Povetkin he'll like gradually rack up the rounds and break him down to either stop him late or win a decision.

But with Joshua's last 2 performances being lack luster and Joshua seemingly looking to impress he might very well try and make a statement and KO Povetkin sooner. If he stands and trades with Povetkin then it could be a much closer fight but I still think Joshua comes through and stops him in about 7 rounds but Joshua has to take some hard shots in doing so and will look vulnerable at times before coming out on top.

If Povetkin gets treated fairly by the referee he has a chance but at his age he might be a bit passed it. But stranger things have happened.

He was the best boxer in the world after the two Klitschko's. I thought he'd inherit the titles and have his day in the sun. He got that gold medal talent just like Joshua and the K brothers. Now, he's past his prime, and he was always maybe a step behind the others, but he's still got a puncher's chance. Next to Wlad, he'll be the most dangerous fighter Joshua has ever fought. I think he's absolutely still the second best guy in the division, and would still crush Wilder like a bug.

Too many unknowns about Povetkin to be able to make a good prediction.

We know this isn't the guy who knocked duhaupas out cold. But we don't really know who exactly povetkin is at this stage.

I think the bigger issue for Joshua is he really can't afford to stink the joint out and fight povetkin safety first, he's going to have to engage for the sale of his marketability, and that let's povetkin into the fight.

I'll say this as a Joshua fan though, if he doesn't look impressive in this one its really really not going to be a good look.

I think once Joshua tasted the canvas against WK, he isn't the same fighter he was before. His confidence isn't there IMO. Lewis didn't seem too affected by either of his stoppage losses but maybe he believed more in his boxing ability than Joshua does.

Either way, I think you're right about the fight. Joshua will fight in a very safe, boring manner and should win another lackluster decision that doesn't entertain the fans. Povetkin has seem to coast in some fights and I think at his age, if things don't go his way early he'll be happy to coast until the end of the fight IMO.

He is a big threat IF he can get into his ideal range but I'm sure AJ will do everything he can to stay out of that range..

For those that think Povetkin was finished in the 5th:

^ Notice the combination punching in round 5. Notice also that Pov had been fighting at a far higher pace for the entire fight than AJ fights at.

For those that think Povetkin can't hurt Joshua:

^ 42 stitches and bust eyes, nose and mouth. Povetkin literally broke Price's face.

This is going to be a very live fight and a good one, imho.

Really looking forward to this, pretty sure it's gonna be a decent fight and wouldn't be surprised to see Joshua hit the canvas. I'm gonna be near ringside for it too!

40% Povetkin 60% Joshua. Povetkin has so much heart! he would rather die than surrender. But Joshua has a huge heart too, as he showed us against Klitschko! this is what makes this fight so intriguing.

Absolutely spot on regarding the WK fight, Joshua knows he is extremely vulnerable and knows he can be put down and hurt, this has seriously affected his confidence as his last two fights have shown, he will be very very cautious against Povetkin and it will be his downfall.

    Povetkin in six for me.

I always thought you Polish people loved the Russians. After all they freed you from ze Germans?

Lets be honest here, Povetkin is better that Whyte.
