When Floyd turned down the $8 million to fight Margo, fighting Oscar was still a pipedream.

With Goldie and Friends already signed up to tapdance for another eight figures apiece, why should Arum bother waving money around? Between the purse, the PPV cut, the few thousand idiots who will show up to witness what they believe is a meaningful fight, and the chance to spar with a B going on C-rate opponent, why would Floyd possibly accept?

I'm officially done with PBF until he's done milking the Golden Cow. Let the general public hype this one up. We as boxing fans should know better.

And yet Mayweather still gets a TON of flack for not taking that fight. Hell, the fact that he made $8million + to face Baldomir for the linear title then signed with Oscar for one of the biggest non-HW paydays ever still hasn't stopped a lot of people from bringing it up.

Look, I'm a Floyd fan who'll defend most of his choices for opponents 2004-present and even I admit that I'd prefer not to see this **** either, but you have to face the fact that the Margo hype proves Arum has one hell of a spin machine at his command. If he and Cotto desperately wanted this fight, instead of biding their time for a paid day, we'd be hearing about Floyd ducking Miguelito for XXX amount of greenbacks non-stop already. Unfortunately, this is the way it goes in modern boxing.

I will say that if this nonsense fight actually comes off, there's NO WAY that I'll pay for it. And that's coming from a guy who buys almost every decent PPV unless my gf drags me off to do something else.

Cotto vs. Mayweather or bust. That's about the on fight I want PBF to take at this point.

    Still,

ODLH was the reason Shane didn't ask for Floyd and took a lay off after Vargas rematch with ridiculous toothache excuse.

We all know the real reason was: Oscar wanted Floyd first because Floyd could loose or at least look poor against Moseley.

Compukiller, this is a great post and you got the most balls out of everyone here. I agree with you. Oscar did not approach Cotto or Mayweather, they approached him. If Oscar stayed at 154 both fighters would move up to fight him. Everyone is hating him because they feel he is stopping the big fights. While Oscar is around he is The Big Fight.

And what the ****s up with the "first fight was boring?" Who do you think made it boring, Oscar? -Oscar is anything but boring. Who made the Baldomir fight boring? Who will make a fight with Cotto boring? I think the Floyd fans are projecting their hatred for their own guy on Oscar. They just want to jump on anyone's tip while they're on top. Just so happens the guy on top makes Winky Wright look like Rocky Marciano. Floyd is skilled but a snoozer. If Floyd fights any competitive boxer it will be like first DLH fight/ Baldomir fight. Hate on the right guy, is all I'm saying.

I dont get it why Arum is preventing Cotto from fighting PBF. Can someone please enlighten me on this when they come out of the press and say they want PBF.

In my opinion, Oscar gets a lot of unwarrented stick on this site.

I do not blaim DLH for picking this fight. He accomplished a lot and this is the only fight that could put him really on top. I think he feels he can beat Floyd thats why he is taking this fight. I do blaim Mayweather though because he should be fighting Cotto now.
