How desperate must Wilder and Fury be to face Ruiz?

All credit to Ruiz, he is clearly much MUCH better than I ever thought he was. But I think that was a combination of a lucky punch/overaggression on AJ's part, and a bad style matchup, as much as it was a credit to Ruiz. I just can't see any way he beats either Fury or Wilder. And I doubt they really have much doubt either.

If I was Arum or Haymon, I would be doing everything I could to try to line up a fight between him and Fury or WIlder. Obviously Haymon represents Ruiz as well, but no doubt he would rather have Wilder holding those belts, Ortiz rematch be damned.

It all comes down to whether AJ really wants that immediate rematch or not, and or if it is ironclad contractually. I don't see how AJ doesn't do everything in his power to get that rematch, but if not, I'd expect a deal to get done between Ruiz and Wilder or Fury.

It’s in the clause, AJ will face him again win or lose - there’s no way he turns his back on boxing now. Beyond that, who knows.
