I think Fred Fulton, carnera, Willard, Buddy Baer, Hoff, Tony Alongi, Ernie Terrell, Tiger Williams, Tex Cobb had potential to be better now. Perhaps not quite as good or anyway near as good as Lewis or Wlad but good enough to beat most of the guys Wlad has beaten.

So you do think bigger men have got better?

Competition that suits a big man is more abundant today. Slower, bigger, older just as strong guys. This helps them develop into better all round fighters than ever before so yes.

Lewis and klit always would gave been great. They were intelligent, disciplined guys who knew what they were doing.

the tallest giants have yes. they have got better because Some actually develop into better all round fighters compared to before. Having Long arms is key these days.

No, he was a professional not a dilettante who came late to the game to make a few bucks in a depleted white hope era.

Ok, but that is not to say guys like Fulton, Tony Alongi, Mike dejohn, Buddy Baer could not also improve under today's evolutionary ways. They would do well now, better than they did then.

I also have a hunch that for all the tallest boxers now are now able to develop against a slower paced brand of super-sized guys they would still struggle with the speed pace and destruction of Jack Dempsey using those old gloves like he did on Wilard and Fulton.

Do you think Marciano would beat that version of Willard?

Let's be fair though, Marciano will need gloves like Dempsey to do as good a job..

Given his style and strengths, Marciano would probably not have done it as quickly but he would have damaged Willard pretty badly.

Agreed. Marciano would make harder work of it, he always did.
