It was close but not close enough for Prescott to win IIRC. At most it should have been a draw. I never saw the Lundy fight though, was that controversial too or a just loss?
prescott does have skill vasquez mcloskey alvarado all had a very tough time with him it can be argued that he could have won all of them if he did not gas out
By 20 fights Rios already had 2 SD and 1 MD against unknown fighters.Could have gone the other way and have 3 defeats in his record. Abril lost to Prescott ( who went after that fight to ko khan in 1 rd) in a close fight. Nothing to be ashamed about.
Prescott is a very good fighter for 7 or 8 rounds. As someone else has stated his stamina issues have cost him dearly several times. We all saw what happened against alvarado. Against paul mccloskey it was a similar story. He was way ahead at the half way point and allowed mccloskey back into the fight. I was at the odyssey in belfast that night and to be honest even despite this he did enough in the second half of the fight that he should have won on the cards. Getting beaten by him is nothing to be ashamed of. He can box long utilising a serious reach, he can mix it inside as we saw against alvardo, he has a solid beard and he has decent power. If you dont have a good engine and the power to put him away when he gasses, or failing that the benefit of a little hometown judging, he is tough guy to beat.
Prescott is a good fighter until he gasses out or gets complacent. Ask Amir Khan about his punching power.
