Usually Barrett displays a good beard; how did he get bombed in 2 ?
Was he out of shape, or did the Valuev beating take it's toll? Did he threw the fight ?

Good question; I never saw the fight, so I'd like to know as well.

I was at the fight. He got caught by a looping left hook. He was in serious trouble for the most part of the second round but the ref did stop it a bit soon if you ask me. But he was getting hit a lot.

He was 227 for the first match, in the rematch he knocked couser out in two, weighing in at 217

As you say, it kinda sticks out like a sore thumb on his record...normally Barrett is a fairly durable guy. Wlad had to repeatedly floor him to stop him in 7 while Valuev just exhausted him by 11. Usually he can take good whacks from guys like Guinn, Rahman, Beck, Mesi and others without folding.

He didn't seen quite right either with his training or his focus. 227 was the heaviest weight of his career, and I think he was just looking past Couser, especially since Cliff had just been clobbered by both Moorer and Calloway.

Either which way, his eye was off the ball and Couser had a good night.
The rematch was much the way you would've expected it to go in the first place...just kind of a weird anomoly for Monte.

I think I may have seen this fight, but can't recall, for sure.

Regardless, the Fields win has really given Barrett momentum, and with the Haye fight, Barrett has now got the opportunity to put himself back in the mix in one fight.

Barrett has fast hands and impressive power, and I hope, at some point in this fight, he manages to catch Haye, flush, to see how Haye reacts.

i was at the fight, couser landed a big bomb but it seemed to happen as the bell went, i think barret relaxed thining the round was almost over, he came out for 2nd and still wasnt right and couser finished the job, not a fast stoppage barret was done imo

That's the beauty of boxing, especially in the tumultuous HW division.

I respect the old school way in which he made up for the loss -- by avenging it!!!
