Wilder had an injured hand. Also, he's changed his style and his power is far deadlier.

He was hurt. He was hospitalized. But Stiverne is very underrated. He was good back then.

Wilder floored Stiverne in their first fight and Deontay broke his hand with that shot. So he didn't have the right hand the rest of the fight. That's why.

    Caused by severe dehydration.

"Rhabdomyolysis is a condition in which the muscle fibers die and are released into the blood stream. One of the causes is extreme physical exertion. Stiverne was severely dehydrated even in the days leading up to his bout with Wilder, and after the fight, his urine was a brown color."

It was because the match with Wilder was really taxing. Any other explanation is just Stiverne and co trying to save face. He didn't really need the excuse anyway. He fought a tough fight.

Crush syndrome (also traumatic rhabdomyolysis or Bywaters' syndrome) is a medical condition characterized by major shock and kidney failure after a crushing injury to skeletal muscle. Crush injury is compression of extremities or other parts of the body that causes muscle swelling and/or neurological disturbances in the affected areas of the body, while crush syndrome is localized crush injury with systemic manifestations.[1] Cases occur commonly in catastrophes such as earthquakes, to victims that have been trapped under fallen or moving masonry.

It isn't a mystery. Stiverne's counter right hooks neutralized Wilder's right hand, so Wilder gave up on the knockout and relied on his jab and superior punch volume get him a decision. Russ Anber predicted that Wilder wouldn't be able to knock Stiverne and didn't want to take any unnecessary risk against a counter puncher like Stiverne, so he prepared Wilder to go the distance with Stiverne, but Wilder went against their strategy and tried to force a knockout early in the fight anyway, but it didn't work.

The reports say it was related to severe dehydration/extreme physical exertion. Did you check him yourself and can you attest that it was Wilder's punches that gave him this? I'm going by reports I've seen. And anyway, you know what I meant by hurt, and it's not this.
