Anyone would have looked fit and sharp after that 12 rounder....they spent most of the time standing still looking at each other. Both looked like they had done a 4 rounder after the fight.
Terrible fight. Both were to blame. This is the best bjs can do? It's time to forget about bjs. He just isn't very good.
As people have already said on here it's hard to say how good bjs was because of Munroe's tactics and endless waiting game. Messy fight. Bjs would give any mw problems but doesn't have enough power or stamina against ggg or canelo.
I don't think Canelo is a huge puncher to be honest. I'm not slagging him off, I think he's class but he almost slaps with his punches at times.
I wasn't impressed at all with slimy Bill, he's right down at the bottom of my list of fighters I want to watch in the future. I'm actually annoyed at myself for watching it.
Given up on Saunders as a top world class fighter, I'll now watch him as if I'm watching an undercard fight
Agreed. He's just not going to be in any more meaningful fights and he won't be putting on any more class performances. He always cites ring rust as an excuse for a poor performance. The answer to that is to FIGHT MORE OFTEN. I think he's got 12 months left as champ, personally speaking. Jacobs, Canelo & GGG are coming for that belt.
He was ok at parts but at least 50% of the fight was just a staring contest, i think he needs at least one more tune up before he could be ready for the three.
Hard to see where billy joe goes from here. The top guys will just take the belt off him without too much hassle. Decent skills...but not much good if you can only keep them up for 6 rounds usually and thats against pretty mediocre opposition. He,s at the point where the gas tank cant keep up with him when the level does go up. It,ll be a case of golovkin going in there...making bjs work harder than he wants to. Tyring then just getting beat up with very little to keep him off with. Even nick blackwell started getting to him...after being thouroughly outboxed by a skillful billy joe the first three rounds. Nick just kept the pressure on...till bjs started struggling a bit to keep him off. Monroe no bad win for a first fight with ingle to get the ring rust out etc.
Agreed. Golovkin puts more pressure on than any fighter today. Billy would feel like he's done 11 rounds after 3-4. GGG is the worst match up for him in the division.
Laughable to bill this as a title fight of any description, truly dismal. Then the usual excuses from the talking heads as to why Saunders under performed. Pre - fight it was all sweetness and light, Ingle had performed a miracle, he had actually managed to get a professional part - time boxer to train! Some appetiser for the Golovkin - Alvarez fight later.
