AFTER WATCHING DOUGLAS V TYSON YESTERDAY, I WAS WONDERING HOW DOUGLAS MANAGED TO GET OF THE CANVAS IN THAT 8TH ROUND, THAT UPPERCUT THAT TYSON LANDED WAS AN ABSOLUTE PEACH OF A PUNCH.
REMARKABLE PERFORMANCE BY DOUGLAS, TYSON LOOKED SLUGGISH FROM THE START AND SEEMED TO LACK IDEAS.
I GOT THE IMPRESSION HE UNDERESTIMATED BUSTER AND PROBABLY DIDNT TRAIN AS HARD FOR THE FIGHT AS HE NORMALLY WOULD:thumbsup
    WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK.
AND THIS IS THE FRIGHTENING PART, THAT FIGHT WAS 18 YEARS AGO AND I REMEMBER IT AS IF IT WAS A WEEK AGO.

That night, Tyson came in as the most feared man on the planet...

But Buster Douglas came out of that fight as the bravest man who stood up against Iron Mike.

As mentioned, Buster's head was clear. I think the key is that the KD happened late, because by then Buster knew he was winning the fight. Who knows what might have happened to his confidence if that KD had happened in the first round? At any rate, Tyson lost to the better man that night. The 1988 Tyson certainly would have fared better, but in truth he was going to have a certain degree of difficulty matching with a big heavy who had talent, lots of motivation and a methodical, unafraid approach to the bout. Buster was the man that night.

I watched it yesterday as well, it actually wasn't as big of a punch as I remembered. He seemed completly coherent and all of that long count stuff is crap, Buster would have got up a 9 no matter what, even if the ref wasn't counting slow he was watching him closely the whole time.

That punch was absolutely nothing special.

Most overrated punch in history. Not only that but it was from exhausted Tyson.

How did he went down from it is a bigger mystery??

Compare that to the peach Tyson got before getting KTFO..; different story.

  15. Douglas got up because he wanted too, he punched the canvas in anger at the refs count of 3 or 4 so his head was clear, also his Mother just passed away, he had not a DAMN THING TO LOSE how would losing a damn fight compare to losing your Mother??:-( im Damn glad he got up because it was a pleasure to watch him Knock the **** out of Tyson..:smoke
